Exactly, you can’t be punished for ‘ wanting’ to do something but don’t actually do it.

Re: European Super League
They were committed to it. Chelsea delayed announcing that they had changed there mind because they were sitting out the paperwork. They announced that the ESL was happening, no consultation with any other body. They must have been talking about it for months, in secret, they were more than talking about it.
Anyway nothing will happen so there's no point in arguing about it.

Re: European Super League
There are rules that the clubs must obey if they want to be officially recognised by EUFA and their respective league federations, apparently the way they approached setting up the super league broke just about every regulation.Manoverboard wrote: 21 Apr 2021, 13:46The ' owners ' of any Club can make changes to their business model as they see fit but the Mangers, players and fans do not have to support them. Punishment is not appropriate albeit the Managers could opt to use rubbish game tactics / the players keep losing the ball or the fans don't turn up ... resulting in lost revenue to the by now unloved owner.

Re: European Super League
The regulations that may have been broken will determine their eligibility to play in EURO competitions, if the owner choses to risk exclusion then so be it but without the big boys the competition is a non event. Nothing will happen and nor should it as far as I am concerned.towny44 wrote: 21 Apr 2021, 15:29There are rules that the clubs must obey if they want to be officially recognised by EUFA and their respective league federations, apparently the way they approached setting up the super league broke just about every regulation.Manoverboard wrote: 21 Apr 2021, 13:46The ' owners ' of any Club can make changes to their business model as they see fit but the Mangers, players and fans do not have to support them. Typical comment from a supporter of a club that changes managers more frequently than underwear.Manoverboard wrote: 21 Apr 2021, 15:57The regulations that may have been broken will determine their eligibility to play in EURO competitions, if the owner choses to risk exclusion then so be it but without the big boys the competition is a non event. Re: European Super League
I’ve been led to believe that the Premier league gave the six (I refuse to call them big as my team are dog sh!t at the moment) 48 hrs to decide if they were in or out of the Prem, they couldn’t be in both which was what they wanted.
Silent Stan is only in it for the money. He hasn’t put £1 into the club and railroaded over the small share holders to take full control. The sooner he is gone the better. I have never protested about anything in my life but if I lived near London I would be there on Friday.
It’s a good job there are no fans in the stadium.
If we get a points deduction and we get relegated then it serves the owner right. Might be able to get a ticket then and he might sell up and bugger off.

Still not giving up - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56842442
Perhaps I am missing something but the objective of this "super league" is to "save football" - isn't that what the fans have done?
Anyway the clubs, apparently, cannot leave as the contracts are binding - even though nobody knows what the penalty for breaking the contact is! Looks like another case of an EU country not knowing how to draw up a contract.

Re: European Super League
So Florentino Perez had this to say,
" In Spain, we are a completely different type of fan. We don't act against things we think are unfair. In England, it is more like a lifestyle. They are taking something off you and you go out to try to get it back."
To true, maybe we have a passion for the game like no other country has. Any how we invented the game we know today. Don't try and change our ways to watch the beautiful game, his way smells of more money from the fans pockets.

Re: European Super League
Perez, el Presidente de Real Madrid, is like a king who always gets his own way ... it's applies in Spain but not everywhere it would appear.
