Well That Was A Good Buy
Towards the end of last year we had some fencing replaced and knowing that it would need painting (a job that I detest with a vengeance) I bought a Wagner Fence & Decking Paint Sprayer (not cheap). Yesterday was the day to try it out and I was impressed. Instead of taking 15 - 20 minutes to paint a panel by hand the sprayer did it in about two minutes.
The only downside is that most of the time saved with painting is lost at the end when you have to clean the sprayer!

Re: Well That Was A Good Buy
My latest great buy was a Cobra lawn scarifier. I had already scarified it and took up loads of moss and thatch. However it still left behind quite a bit of moss so enter the scarifier. I am amazed how much more thatch and moss it has taken out. At the moment it looks rather akin to a ploughed field but I feel sure once the rain and warmer weather come along it will green up. Some areas will need re-seeding where the moss had taken over altogether so I am hoping my turf will match that at Wembley before too long!!!
Great machine!!!

Foxy, a good move as the years creep up on you.
A whole lot easier than the lawn rake.
Also it doesn't take as much time to clean it as David's purchase.

Nor do I. Like David I hate it. But Mrs S doesn't mind at all. So she's welcome to itManoverboard wrote: 23 Apr 2021, 16:31We don't paint fences in Darzet, that's for City suckers slickers ... just saying![]()

We had a very cheap fence sprayer. And its performance reflected its price. After its last use I didn't bother to clean it before I threw it in the bin.

With 15 fence panels to do Iโm happy with their smoky grey finish.

I was interested to read your scarifying endeavours as I also bought a scarifier last year (VonHaus)
I only managed to do half of our lawn as it was quite labour intensive raking up all the moss/thatch etc (the catch bucket at the back is pretty useless due to it being full within a few feet of scarifying) โฆIโll get round to doing the rest later this year.
I have to say Iโm delighted with the results and as you implied it does take a little imagination thinking about what it will look like having giving it a good scalping.
For those who wish to have a lawn like mine
As for the two brown areas to the front of the propertyโฆ the less said about that the betterโฆshe still hasnโt seen it yet!

I had the same problem with the catch bucket being next to useless. So my solution is I use the scarifier without it and then run the mower over it (set high so it doesn't actually cut) to collect the rubbish. The mower does it quite effectively and easier than by hand.

I have an even easier solution - I let the gardener do it!Mervyn and Trish wrote: 24 Apr 2021, 09:04I had the same problem with the catch bucket being next to useless. My ' catching ' is as follows ...
Scarify until I spot the tell tale trail of thatch / moss forming then remove box and empty into Mobietta's extra large orange plastic bucket. Continue until the bucket is full then ask Mobietta to empty it into our Council type Gardening Bin.
Gets it done in no time and as a bonus Mobietta gets extra exercise

Moby, I did not realize what a good hearted person you are. Mobietta is fortunate to have such a thoughtful hubby.

Is Mobietta available for a gig in Staffordshire? We wouldn't charge for the benefit of her getting yet more exercise.Manoverboard wrote: 24 Apr 2021, 09:17My ' catching ' is as follows ...

Cribbed from YouTube I leave the catch bucket off and when I have finished I use the leaf blower to blow it into handy piles and finish off with a leaf rake. I then give it all a sprinkle with iron sulphate to kill off moss and act as a conditioner.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 24 Apr 2021, 09:04I had the same problem with the catch bucket being next to useless. The leaf blower's another of my Good Buys and saves hours of sweeping and raking both on the lawn and the patio although it does cause a bit of havoc when used indoors!!!

Do you blow it all into next door's garden?

I was wondering why anybody would use a leaf blower indoors
