Re: Football
Bruddy Ipswich......We are now called Crystal Palace nil.
Next up the Foxes on Saturday.
Congratulations to Cardiff on their promotion to the Premier League......and commiserations to Bristol City relegated from the Championship and also Portsmouth and Hartlepool both dropping out of League One along with Bury who were already relegated before tonight.
That was some game at Bramall Lane wasn' it...ten man Sheffield United 2 v nine man Brentford 2.
Leicester v Bolton sounded a good game as well..Leicester back in the Play-off places.

Re: Football
Yes, I agree. Cardiff have been knocking on the door of the Prem for a good many years now and have been worthy leaders for their consistency throughout the season.
That was indeed some game at Sheff Utd. I wouldn't mind seeing the highlights of that one, after I have seen the Foxes against Bolton. It's such a long time since we won it's getting some getting used to.
It's all going to be very tight for the playoff spots. Our last three games are Palace (a), Watford (h) and Forest (a). However everybody is dropping points left, right and centre so anything could happen. It will all go down to those who hold their nerve. Hopefully our run of poor form is at an end, but I wouldn't count on it.
It should be a good game on Saturday Paul. Good luck to your team, and better luck to mine!!

Re: Football
Wolves 1 : Hull 0 .... what an important result that is for Wolves !!
After us losing at Millwall
Hull are now, I would almost concede, destined to fill that second spot
.
As for us Hornets we only need one point from our remaining three games to be in the play offs so can afford to relax a little but also hope that some of our injured key players are able to recover in time to plug the obvious gaps in our leaky defence.
Well done the Foxes

AFC Bournemouth
What a difference a new manager makes
Languishing in the pits of League One
Mr Edward John Frank "Eddie" Howe returned "home"
The rest is history, I hope to see some of my dear footie shipmates enjoying AFC meat pies next term, they are scrumptiously lubberly

Local bookmakers are currently giving odds of 1 - 40 for Hull City to gain automatic promotion to the Premier League.

I'm not a football fan Moby but there seem to be a lot of people in Hull applying for season passes right now!

Re: Football
As a lot of you football chappies know I favour the oval football over the round football. Despite that I have always enjoyed listening to the commentary on our local radio station (BBC Radio Humberside) of our three local teams, Hull, Grimsby and Scunthorpe. Well, last night I set up the ironing board in the conservatory, opened a nice bottle of red, and turned on the Hull City v Bristol City commentary.......zzzzzz borrrrring.
I spoke with my Father in law this morning who had been one of the poor souls who had been at the KC last night and asked him what he thought of it.........he wasn't impressed (edited version)!!
There are a lot of football supporters in Hull who are desperate for them to get into the Premier League, and as a loyal and proud Hullensian I hope it happens and I wish them well...but I'm afraid it doesn't float my boat and I'll stick to my egg chasing.
Regards
Rob aka AOTH

Re: Football
Rob,
It would make it much more interesting if they didn't use their hands and could pass the ball forwards.
I could never get the hang of it at school that you ran your socks off for 50 yards (OK, maybe 5 in my case) then you had to pass the ball backwards. 'What's the point in that?' I thought. Meanwhile some ape was trying to grab you around your nether regions. We'll never get anywhere at this rate.
The funny ball game has never been the same since B&W telly and Eddie Waring. Ooooh! Fond memories!!
PS Steve Bruce was never renowned for producing exciting football.

I see Huddersfield beat Millwall 3-0 and Beckford scored a brace again today. Towny will be a happy bunny this afternoon.
It will help Huddersfield's fight to stay in the Championship but the trouble is all the others keep winning as well.

Re: Football
We're indulging in a bit of suicidal defending but have clawed back to one apiece at half time. Their back four, thankfully, sound rather dodgy so it's anybody's game to win. It sounds like it's a great atmosphere with their eagle landing on the pitch. We ought to have a fox and then we'd see who was 'Glad All Over!!'
This one could go either way. It all depends who wants it the most.
I see your lot are involved in a high-scoring 0-0.

Re: Football
Quite right Foxy, but it looks as though the points record for relegation will be well beaten this season, we now have 54 but need at least another win and even that might not be enough. I note that Leicester are still hanging on to a play off spot but I think you need to beet Palace today.oldbluefox wrote:I see Huddersfield beat Millwall 3-0 and Beckford scored a brace again today.
