Do you dream in black and white or colour?
Apparently those born since the mid 80's claim they dream in colour while those older claim they often dream in black and white - and the more wrinkly you are then the more likely it is that your dreams lack colour. The answer apparently lies in the type of TV and newspapers you grew up with.

Definitely colour for me.

I learnt that there is a shortage of carers around Dorchester and that they ship them in from London on a regular basis ... sounds like a good way to spread a virus.

I’ve learnt I need bionic eyes to be able to read P&O’s latest brochure. Ridiculously small print with a terrible layout.

The Ambassador cruise line brochure isn’t much better, especially their pricing sheet.

So many things seem to be in such small print these days and don't say it's just our elderly eyes. Even my daughter had to get a magnifying glass out to read some directions the other day and she's got really good vision, tested last month and doesn't need glasses. Why do they do it - saving paper or just hoping we won't bother to try to read it?

It makes it even worse when the print is on a dark background. Maybe it is artistic but it's a devil's job to read.

It beggars belief that the author and presumably the editor have so little understanding of basic physics.

I look forward to their explanation of why the moon appears regularly in our night sky…or why their Sky satellite is always in just the right spot to send signals to their tv dish.

Even Sir Richard himself in an interview said that after release from the mother ship the craft accelerated to Mach2 or 3 in a matter of 2 to 3 seconds. That could upset your bowels!

Here's something that I found out about recently. These pictures are of a kerbside in my local town. No prizes for guessing what caused the dents in the kerbs but the first person with the correct answer can justifiably feel smug.

Nice try, but there’s no hill in that area. They’re old but not that old. There is a Roman road that runs parallel to this one about 200 yds to the east.

Who came after the Romans?

The road is called Kingsway and legend has it that when Purkess the charcoal burner found the body of King William Rufus he used this route on the way from Stoney Cross in the New Forest to Winchester Cathedral. The story goes that a certain Walter Tirel (sometimes Thurold) was hunting in the forest and he and the king got separated. Tirel fired off an arrow at a stag but accidentally hit the king in the chest and killed him. Not wishing to hang around for an inquest Tirel galloped down to Southampton and grabbed the next boat to France.

But I digress…

The marks date from June 1944. My local area was the largest assembly area in the build up to D-Day. There were four large Marshalling areas in my vicinity and thousands of movements of military vehicles, especially tanks. The lumps out of the kerbs and other damage was done by tank tracks and their drive sprockets. The road junctions were also reinforced with concrete pads and some of these can still be seen appearing through the worn tarmac.
