Enjoying the mixed relay events that I’ve seen this year. Never seen mixed relay triathlon & found it pretty enjoyable. The shorter distances and the change overs made it quite watchable. The mixed medley swimming also was fascinating as the teams can are free to select the swimmers order making for some fascinating situations- massive leads built up and also massive catch-ups possible. I have watched mixed relays in athletics but most teams select the same order of male and female athletes and it is a bit more predictable.

Haven't watched much of the Olympics but I thought the BMX sports were a fantastic addition - both the racing and freestyle were far more entertaining than some of the the more traditional disciplines.

I enjoyed the bmx racing but wasn’t overly taken with the little freestyle that I saw - disappointingly as I thought I would have enjoyed it.) One thing I like about the Olympics is the opportunity to dip into a range of sports that you wouldn’t normally watch. It takes me back to the days of Grandstand where you used to get a compendium of sports on a Saturday afternoon (& to a degree Sportsview, mid week.) I think I prefer the old style sports coverage rather than the in depth big event coverage that you get now with each event preceded by hours of experts giving insights into the forthcoming competition.

I remember grandstand and wasn't there an equivalent on ITV as well? I think it was the ITV that had the British wrestling on with Mick McManus, Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks, Kendo Nagasaki, Pat Roach etc. before it went into horse racing and then onto some sport for the afternoon and then football results.

“It might be a Bronze or even a Silver”….Nah! It’s a Gold…take a bow Charlotte Worthington

Didn’t I say BMX was worthy of being an Olympic sport? :shifty:

Lots of funny games that I have never even heard of. I'd propose that old games be made superior than others even in terms of awards

A two-tier Olympics wouldn’t work in my opinion…and I don’t think the presenting of aluminium, lead or iron medals would go down too well either.

Well that's another one over and it was much better because of some of the new sports - hopefully they not get the funding they deserve taken from the coffers of those sports failed to deliver.

At the next Olympics I hear break dancing is going to be included. Plenty of time for you all to get practised and put on a good show.

Yes, thank you Japan for putting on a wonderful Olympics (nearly as good as 2012 but not quite) In very difficult circumstances Team GB were once again awesome.

Which is a bit like saying the football match isn't over because there is a hockey match next week.

Totally disagree - if anything the Paralympics are far better than the Olympics.

We had several days in 2012 at the London Paralympics and could only be humbled by those athletes - to see a young man with no arms or legs take part in the swimming is something that will live with me for ever and even though he came in last he got a louder reaction from the crowd than the winner.
