Re: Football 21/22
I am sure it will be a sad day for many football fans to learn Jimmy Greaves has died.
I have no interest in football but even I remember "Saint and Greavsie"

Sorry to hear that Jimmy Greaves has died. He was an incredible player and for me one of if not the best.
I can remember him scoring against us at White Hart Lane when he picked the ball up on the half way line, dribbled past four or five defenders, around Peter Shilton and stroked it into the net. Simply amazing.
RIP Jimmy.

Arrrrggghhh.
How frustrating is it being a football fan.
A good start, one nil up in twenty minutes.
Then, a senior player throws the ball away contesting a free kick.
Booked.
Three minutes later, trips in the box.
Penalty and second yellow equals early bath.
Totally changed the momentum and easily lost.

BT Sports screened the life ' n' times of Jimmy Greaves ... great viewing but they wiped it when I dumped BT Sport.

The battle of the A23 was a bit tasty last night ... Wilf scored another penalty
but the lovelies from Brighton equalised at the death.

We should have been out of sight. We had so many chances Ayew missing a sitter but you don't always get what you deserve in football. At least we didn't lose . I hate it when we lose to the seaweed.

Re: Football 21/22
We were certainly rubbish on the day although the underlying cause was not the Manager but one's Captain Tom's wife who had produced twins on Thursday and the boys were still in recovery mode.

Just back from watching Palace thrash Leicester 2-2. After going in at half time losing 2-0 both goals coming against the run of play, we should be happy with a point but it should have been three.

Why can't the Watford board recognise that their team is not quite good enough for the PL and probably too good for the championship, regardless of their manager.Manoverboard wrote: 04 Oct 2021, 09:44Looks like OBF's ' Tinkerman ' is heading to Watford ... just til the end of the season mind![]()

The Board have the ambition to play at the top level.towny44 wrote: 04 Oct 2021, 11:03Why can't the Watford board recognise that their team is not quite good enough for the PL and probably too good for the championship, regardless of their manager.
The Watford team however is very much in transition and has been for the past few years because too many of their key players were sold or were getting too old for the demands of the Prem. We will never be able to compete with the likes of Man City of course but the financial gains by being in the Prem at any level keeps the Club afloat even if they have to YoYo for a few years.

Think you got it wrong there, Foxy! It was against Newcastle Utd and the goalie was Willie McFaul. I was there. My first away match in London. You must have stood out a bit with your Foxes scarf on!
He was a great player, consistently good throughout his career in UK. He also made a good tv double act with Ian St. John

Almost exactly a year (well 378 days ) before he repeated his party piece against NUFC. Amazingly similar goals. NUFC lost 2-1.

He made a habit of doing it. Incredible player who could waltz past defenders as though they weren't there.

Poor performance from England last night I thought. They were lucky to get away with a draw score. Got bored with it in the end and switched over.

Re: Football 21/22
They spent too much time passing the ball around the back four which gave a clue they didn't know what else to do with it. Poor performance all round.
