Bucket Lists

Unread post by Kendhni »

With retirement looming in the not too distant future I have been pondering on what items should be included on the bucket list. At the minute the two biggies for me are the far east and south pacific islands. I had been considering a world cruise but comments from several people on various cruise sites have made me shelve that one (at least temporarily).

Just wondering what things others have on their bucket lists.

Before Paulines stroke we did 2 Saga tours to S America and still consider them 2 of the best holidays we have had. Peru including lake Titicaca, Cusco, Machu Picchu, and an Amazon lodge stay. Chile, Argentina and Brazil, including an Andes lakes cruise, Buenos Aires, Iguazu falls and Rio.

We think the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador is one of the best holidays we've been on. Also enjoyed our safari in Kenya. You have made me think about holidays and there are so many places we've been to and had great experiences. I could give you a list but don't worry I won't ๐Ÿ˜‚
You should try a variety of different types of travel to get the best results not all cruises as you only get a small taste.
Cambodia and China...... No I won't mention any more๐Ÿ˜‰

One's retirement should be devoted to saving the Planet ... global protests would surely be rewarding ;)

You would be wasting your time, I am leaving that to those with children and grandchildren ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
I did my bit many years ago, nobody listened then, very few listen today ... so I intend to be far too busy flying and cruising around the world fulfilling my bucket list to worry about such things. :geek: :ugeek:

Iโ€™m financially inactive but Mrs B is still running her business so weโ€™re pretty limited at the moment but have already discussed touring the U.K. when we have time.
Weโ€™ve literally been around the world, had a boat, had properties abroad but realised that we havenโ€™t seen much of the U.K..
Iโ€™m not sure about a motor home as I like my luxury too much, but numerous short trips will be on the cards.

From where you are I suspect that you will soon run out of "short" trips and the long ones will become the order of the day.

Just a small point that you may want to consider and that is starting with the longer trips and leave the shorter ones until later when you may not feel like travelling too far.

When I said short trips, I was thinking four or five days, not weekends David.
We are an hour from the motorway so know all about slow journeys.๐Ÿ˜‚
Weโ€™re going back to Kent next month to see the kids but are coming back via a night in the the New Forest and then a night in Dartmouth.
Feels like youโ€™ve been away a long time.

Having watched a few concerts on, I think, SkyArts, that would be a great call Lindsey. The atmosphere around the venue is magical.
Don't worry, be happy

I don't know about your area but I know our local cinema has been running several Andre Rieu nights every year. If you can't make Maastricht then maybe seeing it on the big screen with a great sound system might partially recreate the atmosphere.
