Happy St. Georges Day

Unread post by paultheeagle »

What is wrong with us English?.....Today is St. George's Day  ....... and hardly a mention

Why can't us English celebrate being English like the Irish celebrate being Irish on St. Patrick's Day and the Welsh on St. David's Day.

Anyway.....Happy St. Georges Day, everyone.

Why indeed Paul .... probably for the same reason the "power's that be" don't want us to use the words Merry Christmas as it might offend.

My OH has enjoyed many a St Patrick's day in Dublin with "the boys"

Happy St Georges Day :D

I've just walked to the post office in our village - yes we're lucky to have one although it is in the One Stop shop - and I saw two houses that had large St. George's flag hanging outside - so some people feel it's worth celebrating!

There was a turnout of the various local Scouts with a band and a parade at Poole Quay

Sadly hardly any people notice the boy's efforts

Mr Google had a St George theme on his home page --

Many happy returns then Anne D - and I think you had good weather for it!

I always thought that on St Georges Day that people wore a red rose buttonhole? That's a nice thing to do.

Thanks for your good wishes.

I think I have heard of the red rose buttonhole too Em. It is a nice idea. After all you have the daffodil on St Patricks Day.

Anne :)
