Re: Covid Vaccination Status
So Boris announces a few proportionate restrictions in an attempt to slow down the spread of the new variant and the next minute a doctor is say he is over reacting.
Boris really cannot win - if he does nothing he is criticised and when he does something that is wrong. If I was him I would say **** it and just leave everyone to get on with it on their own.

Re: Covid Vaccination Status
Did I understand from a SA covid spokeswoman today that their early data seems to indicate that omicron is resulting in less severe infections? I was finishing off a Sainsbury order so wasn't really listening and only caught the back end of the interview, and she had quite a strong africaans accent.

Yes - the same doctor who is saying that we are over reacting even though the WHO are the ones who have classified it as a variant of concern.towny44 wrote: 28 Nov 2021, 13:34Did I understand from a SA covid spokeswoman today that their early data seems to indicate that omicron is resulting in less severe infections
Also SA is saying that they are being penalised because they found this new variant and alerted the world - did not the same thing happen to the UK with the Delta variant?
