we were supposed to be coming up to accrington today to see mother in law but cancelled owing to weather forecasts and the wife having a bad cold

Beautiful sunny still day here after a crisp overnight frost. A cold one as you would expect at 1.1deg, but nowhere near as cold as yesterday when we had the fresh breeze.

Might see how long the new outdoor Christmas lights are for round the garage later if it stays like this

It was snowing last night in Farnham, Surrey where my daughter lives, she wasn't very thrilled but my 6 year old grandaughter thought it was fantastic! Here in Hampshire, near Southampton, this morning it's 2 degrees and the forecast is showing a high of 4C, no snow though thank goodness. Tomorrow the forecast shows a high of 12C, quite a jump.
