The Sinking of the Costa Concordia
Anyone else watch the Costa Concordia documentary last night.
It must have been absolutely terrifying, total chaos.
Part two tonight, channel 5 @ 9pm

Re: The Sinking of the Costa Concordia
I watched it and agree that it was a terrifying situation to be in but nothing more than I would expect from the passengers on any other ship in such circumstances. The main problem as I see it was that there was no leadership.
I don't think that the first episode brought anything new to the table - we shall have to wait for tonight's episode to find out what really happened.

Decided not to bother believing that it would be a re-run of pre screened footage ...

It is claimed to contain mostly unseen footage - although I cannot recall what I have seen and what I have not.Manoverboard wrote: 08 Dec 2021, 13:09Decided not to bother believing that it would be a re-run of pre screened footage ...

Watched the second part last night and the impression was that Costa (and/or Carnival) threw the Captain under the bus.
What I did not realise was that the order to abandon ship had to come from Costa and not the Captain

If he hadn’t tripped into one of the lifeboats while there were still 300 onboard, he would have probably got away with 5 years.david63 wrote: 09 Dec 2021, 17:37Watched the second part last night and the impression was that Costa (and/or Carnival) threw the Captain under the bus.

Re: The Sinking of the Costa Concordia
We watched part 1 tonight, and I am intrigued to know if head office played a part in the late sounding of the general alarm, but please dont tell me.
I wonder if any wheelchair users were on board, and if or how they managed to get off the ship.

I too watched the second part yesterday. He got everything he deserved, although others should have been sharing a ell as well.

I cannot recall having seen any, but the footage onboard was not that clear most of the time.
The way that the passengers, and crew, were panicking I doubt that anyone in a wheelchair would have stood a chance.
