Go Lewis Hamilton
Can Lewis do it? 8 time world champion?
He has a very tough opponent in Vertsappen ... definitely a future world champion ... but will it be this year?
Far too close for me to attempt to call!!! The track has been modified to maximise racing ... should be a brilliant race.

Re: Go Lewis Hamilton
For someone who’s been around cars a good part of my life motor racing has never appealed. But having a punt I think Vertsappen will clinch it this year.

Re: Go Lewis Hamilton
I'm no F1 fan but I hope Verstappen wins..I used to follow Hamilton but ever since he got himself involved in his 'worthy causes' and started preaching to the rest of us I moved my support.
Politics should be kept out of sport.
Should be a good race nevertheless.

Will certainly be an exciting race. We'll be backing Lewis. Don't like his political.posturing but went right of Max when the two collided and his car landed on top of Lewis. He walked away without even checking if Lewis was hurt. Didn't like that.

Can't stand F1 but I know about the hype surrounding this race. You've got to hope that Hamilton wins, he's British. I always want the Brit to win.

Better still he wont have to share the most successful ever F1driver role with a German.Bensham33 wrote: 11 Dec 2021, 18:20Can't stand F1 but I know about the hype surrounding this race. You've got to hope that Hamilton wins, he's British. I always want the Brit to win.

Re: Go Lewis Hamilton
We’ll done Max.
Hamilton is without doubt the greatest driver ever but as been aided with having the best car as was seen last season when Russell drove it for one race. He needs to concentrate on his sport and not politics, like Rashford. They’re trying to make a point but sport and politics don’t mix.

Great race from them both but in the end decided by two other cars. The one who crashed out and the safety car. Plus the race director and superb tactics in the Red Bull pit.

Well done Max and fair dues to Hamilton who would have been very disappointed but was very gracious in defeat.

Very true. And the luck had gone against them often enough. No doubt Max is world class. Next year could be exciting again, with the addition of George Russell in a good car.barney wrote: 12 Dec 2021, 16:51Red Bull got lucky but you always need luck in sports.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 12 Dec 2021, 16:32Great race from them both but in the end decided by two other cars. Very disappointed for Lewis, but well done to Max.
No doubt Lewis won the racing on the track and had it stolen from him at the end, but it is the how you finish that counts.

But has Max won it? According to 5 live a decision hasn't been made yet. Someone, somewhere is making an appeal about something. Sounds a complete farce to me.

Poor Mercedes, had it all their own way for years. They got the rub of the green on the first lap. Don’t think the FIA will go against their own race directors decision.Max has deserved it over the season,Lewis took him out at siverston and got a time penalty but having won the race it counted for nothing.
Hold your nerve FIA,just to see Toto Wolfs angry face..

Re: Go Lewis Hamilton
Not sure why they could not have safely retrieved Latifi's car under a virtual safety car. The whole world knows that an actual safety car can seriously impact a leaders chances, and provide a massive advantage to the rest of the field. There needs to be a rethink about how such incidents are handled in the closing stages of a race, but I somehow doubt that common sense will prevail. Maybe a pit road stop in race order for all cars and allow them all a tyre change if they want one, then a safety car restart.

Re: Go Lewis Hamilton
Given yesterdays fiasco I think they need to look at the rules around this, but I have no idea what the answer is.
I am guessing that next year they will allow Hamilton to take a hammer to the Williams engines before delivery and that Latifi will get an engine from a Yugo. On the plus side I am sure that Latifi will get a load more christmas cards this year from the Red Bull team
To be fair it was a great season and showed just how good both Hamilton and Verstappen are. Given the advantage that Red Bull had in the first half of the season and it was really only the last 4-5 races before Mercedes delivered a competitive car1.

Given the current ecological climate maybe its time to scrap petrol driven F1 and concentrate on electric car racing.
(oh but that wouldn't be so exciting and we would lose lots of fans (money) so that's not going to happen soon.

Re: Go Lewis Hamilton
I know of someone in the racing industry,he said the idea of electric racing cars had been discussed, however to charge the cars they would have to use diesel generators.? If that’s true I don’t know.
