Online Shopping Support

Unread post by Stephen »

Why is it when you have to speak to someone about a product issue you have you always end up either speaking to a Gupta or someone with a broad Northern accent.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not racist but I just can't understand head nor tail what the hell they are saying. It drives me mad when your trying sort a problem out but are struggling to pick up what they are saying. And the rate it's going with more and more migrants arriving I'm going to have to learn several language's because English is slowly disappearing.

Not that it was online shopping but we had a Gupta on the phone yesterday who I struggled to understand…I felt like saying…. “if you want to sell me a phone you’ll need to brush up on your English” however, not wishing to offend I just told him to p*ss off.

My sister was on to customer services and had a job trying to understand what was being said.
At the end of the conversation she asked
"Whereabouts in India are you?
To which came the answer,
"Newcastle".

Having said that I sometimes struggle to understand some of the guttural English which we hear from our southern friends where the letter T seems almost alien. However it seems very popular amongst reporters and commentators nowadays. As for football pundits.................

I wish they's all speak proper like wot I do, innit.

I had a problem with delivery of an item ordered online so rang the customer services number. A message informed me that they weren’t taking any calls and to do an online “chat” instead. So I did and found I was number 50 in the queue - I just put the phone to one side and checked it intermittently and after 20 minutes had a response. Easier than trying to understand the accent of the adviser but frustrating waiting for them to type a reply. Would have been happier if the damn parcel had been delivered as promised but guess it’s the wrong time of year to expect that

Had a ( very short ) conversation recently on the phone with ' Support Services '. Mobietta asked what did they say. Calmly I told her " Buddelly woodelly woodelly buddelly woodelly woodelly ". What else did they say ... " No idea I hung up "
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

The best support staff that I deal with are Sky, not sure if they are in Newcastle or Ireland but they are super efficient.

When you can get through to them, at least that has been my past experience.

Having replaced all my Sky equipment in the last few weeks - due a deal being offered during black friday, I only have praise for the staff at the Sky Call centres. It did take a while to get through (maybe 10 minutes or so) but they delivered what they promised.

On the other hand the engineer did not turn up on the expected day (for their 8AM to 6PM appt slot) nor did they even have the courtesy to phone me to say they would not be turning up.

I am diamond level on their VIP programme, so I generally get straight through.

I an a little bit longer than you whynd1, and that is why I contacted them ... shaved over 30% from the monthly bill. We left our old Sky HD system behind and upgraded to SkyQ with a new router and dish. I was even mid contract with them but I thought I would chance it.

We still have the HD box due to the way it is wired into our system

They always do Lindsey, we rang about a multi room problem we had a few weeks ago, which was sorted straight away, and then the agent said what else can we do for you, and despite finding our current deal was already very good indeed, he managed to shave a further £15/month off our price.

We are multiroom as well.
Trouble with js apparently is we are an anomaly, he told me we have a very old box and both our tvs are 12 years old. So to upgrade to the new box we need new tvs. I'm reluctant to just go and buy 2 new tvs when the others work perfectly well.
We cant renew the entertainment package as it doesnt exist any more. He did renew sports so the men in the house will be happy.
So basically we are being penalised now for having outdated equipment.
Hey ho.

Our TVs are quite old Lindsey, the newest is 9 yrs old, although it does have HD, the other is nearer 15 yrs old, but both happily work on our Sky Q box, and the older one does work on channel 115 for BBC HD, and the picture quality does appear better than ch 101.
The only thing you need is to have the newer HDMI connectors, which even our 15 yr old panasonic has.
