Christmas Pudding - Love it or Hate it

Unread post by allatc »

I've just been watching a Youtube video on the differences between UK and US Christmas Day foods (Gone Girl London).

Interesting views on the subject of Christmas Pudding.

So : time for some research

I quite like Christmas pudding, especially the first helping but second day helpings are far to stodgy for my liking.

We enjoy small portions rather than a bucket full.

This year we will be having two small ' Taste the Difference ' Xmas Puddings from Sainsbugs which will be eaten whenever we fancy them. At that moment in time Mobietta will heat them up and I will then pierce them with the point of a thin knife before pouring flaming Brandy over them. We will eat them with several large dollops of extra thick Cointreau Cream.

Schlurrrp !!!
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Love it, especially those with plenty of nuts and cherries. On the day we have it with lashings of rum sauce. Brandy cream is reserved for the mince pies.

Love it. Especially my old mums home made pud. My Nan also made a delicious pud, loads of fruit and cherries and when we were kids we wanted to eat it because she put silver threepenny bits in it.

You ate them with care.

Always disappointed at weddings when there's no fruit cake with marzipan and royal icing. Sponge cake covered in fondant icing doesn't cut it with me and neither dofairy cakes cupcakes.

Saw one of the chefs cut slices of left over Christmas pudding, then heat it in a frying pan with a little butter then a splash of brandy, then put left over Brandy Butter on it in the frying pan to make a sauce.
I like it but small portion, like it with custard, then cream on top.

Absolutely love it. Mrs 63 makes her own, it's a recipe that she has adapted over the years and is impossible to read - all I know is that the fruit has to soak in a mixture of various alcohols for two months before the puds are made. With that much alcohol in they last at least three years and improve all the time

I have heard there’s been a lot of early morning washing line thefts in his area?

Perhaps he was keeping guard or auditioning for a shepherds part in the local nativity.

Are you saying he's not suitable to be one of the three wise men?

It's odd. I love Christmas cake but don't like Christmas pudding. Both full of fruit and alcohol so what's the difference? Trish is the same.
