The government will lift all covid restrictions later today. Is it to soon or is it time to start living with an it? I'm not sure.

Time will tell.
I expect Boris won’t be around long enough to find out, so he won’t be too concerned if it all goes pear shape.

I think it's time we lived with it. Infection rates are dropping, hospitalisations are dropping as are deaths. I will continue with mask wearing and avoid busy places but as a country I don't believe we can continue as we are.
Whilst there are genuine cases there are some who are off work for the umpteenth time because they know somebody who has a dog whose owner's sister lives next door to someone who has Covid. The country needs to get back on its feet and industry needs to get back to something more akin to normal.

Agree.

Too many people are blaming Covid for the way they work and the hours they keep. The NHS being one of them with some departments working such short hours it’s hardly worth opening.

I’ve decided to join my old football mates for a reunion on the 11th March which will be my first social event (apart for Family) that I have attended in nigh on two years.
If I succumb to the virus, I want you all to know that I’ve loved each and every one of you, and forgive you for all the dreadful things you’ve said about me and my lovely chocolates.

Keep smiling and live long :)

It seems to be a good excuse to put up prices, but not a reasonable increase, more like, let's see what we can get away with.

How does a simple question as to whether we should abolish all the covid restrictions, end up as a rant about covid malingerers, firms blaming covid for everything and inflation?

One could argue, was it a simple question as looking from a decision maker point of view, it could be a difficult question to answer.

As long as M&S don’t up the price of their pickled onions otherwise I shall have to insist questions be asked in the house come PMQ’s.

Read a news report on a school in Brighton. They are asking (telling), the children not to say mummy, mum, daddy and dad but to call them grown ups so as not to upset or discriminate other children with different family types.
When the children do grow up, they will find out how unfair life can really be.
Crazy world we live in.

Have you ever grown your own onions and pickled them, Stephen? We have done so for the past couple of years and people queue up outside my front door for them. :) Holland & Barrett sell tubs of pickling spices and I just add brown sugar…lovely!

So there we are - Covid is over and gone - well that is how many, probably most of the media included, will see it.

I think that Boris, or more precisely his advisors, have probably got it right as the final easing off will be in April when the weather starts improving and things would normally become easier.

Is this the right time? Who knows only time will tell - but then again will there ever be a right time? Going off previous timings of relaxing rules things have gone in the right direction despite the gloom mongers predicting Armageddon!

The country can't stay locked up for ever, which is how long Covid is going to be with us. We have to take responsibility for ourselves sooner or later. I'm nervous about people who know they've got it being freely out and about. But I feel the same about people with bad colds and flu wandering round sneezing on everybody.

You know my views, which tend to agree with most of yours. We need to begin learning how to live "normal"" lives again, hopefully any future variants will be no worse than omicron, and with regular vaccinations future serious illness and deaths should be minimal.

The message from Whitty and Vallance was very clear, that it is not over.

To my mind, ‘living with Covid’ means accepting that 2019 isn’t coming back and making adjustments in our behaviour in order to keep as safe as possible, and to keep others safe in our changed world.

The message from Valance and Whitty was that we still have a large number of cases, which incidentally has always been the case with influenza in winter. However we have lived with flu for years, its severity ebbs and flows, but it does not prevent us from living a normal life, the same now needs to apply to covid.

No, but only because I dont think anyone is stupid enough to press the nuclear button, not since Trump left the oval office anyway.
