The staff have brought me tea in bed a short while ago. A little late but I’ll let it go just this once.

Worse.

I picked up an unopened bottle of red that I had been warming in front of the log burner. As I picked it up the neck of the bottle broke and the whole lot went over the hearth and carpet.

Mrs S was NOT best pleased. There were tears and tantrums, not mine I might add.

Hopefully the Vanish power foam carpet cleaner looks like it might be doing the trick although it might need a couple of attempts 🤞🤞

It would have to happen in winter, it’s a bu99er trying to sleep in the shed. I keep waking up thinking there’s a horses head next to me.

One consolation is it wasn’t one of my nicer bottles of red

Not a problem ... may I recommend a can of ' Wine Away ' from Amazon with a next day delivery.

We've been using it for years and it has never failed

ps ... using a carpet cleaner could cause it to spread

A quick google gave me the following, 2 cups of warm water, 1 teaspoon washing up liquid and 1 tablespoon white vinegar, mix thoroughly and apply generously to the stain using a sponge to get deeply into carpet, leave to soak for 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water using a sponge and dry with old cloths or towelling.
I managed to clean a similar red wine spillage and even Lady T cannot see where it was.

Thanks for the tips chaps although mixed reviews on the Wine Away Moby.

I’ll pass on the info to the staff.

I’ve had a hoover and a wipe over with clean water and it looks like we I’ve dodged a bullet. Will let dry thoroughly and see it needs another go.

You wouldn’t have wanted to have been here last night. You would have thought the world had ended. She was not a happy bunny. I think I’ll be banned to the kitchen from now on when it comes to pouring red wine :)

For best results it should be used straight away, I took the poor reviews with a pinch of salt.

We initially bought it when the grand children were old enough to sit up at the dining room table just in case but it was their Daddy who knocked over the best part of a 250ml glass of deep red Burgundy wine onto one's very light creamy coloured carpet. Half a Kitchen roll, much cussing and a fair few sprays later and the evidence was gone for ever.

Get some in just in case you mess up again, her indoors will be as pleased as punch 8-)

I still do not understand why you wanted warm red wine, my red wine is stored in the wine rack of our small kitchen diner cabinet, which keeps it at the perfect room temperature.
