Anybody got a Ninja ?

Unread post by Manoverboard »

Have been checking out these devices, they seem to range from a simple American gadget for heating up frozen chips and buffalo wings to a very impressive combo of Pressure, Slow and Rice Cookers as well as having the option to bake else make cake, artisan bread dough, yogurt ... plus casseroles and roasts and the aforementioned chips and buffalo wings.

They seem to offer too much bar a decent saving in energy costs of course. The recipe books that I have seen for these machines are very poor in both quality and content. However ...

Does anybody actually have one of these ?

My brother has one and absolutely loves it ... reckons it is the best gadget he has bought for years. He is a real barbecue lover but considers the Ninja to be a great backup for when the weather does not permit him firing up the barbie ... unfortunately I can tell you little else about it (although the good lady has a Ninja smoothie maker thingy .. or the 'black noisy thing in the kitchen' as I call it.

We have one and absolutely love it. It's just the air fryer but we do all meats in it and low fat chips/wedges. It heats up quicker than the oven and crisps on all sides. Afterwards it's quick and easy to clean. Very pleased with it.
I was taught to be cautious

My brother has one Moby and likes it.
He’s single and lives on his own so reckons it’s much better, quicker and cheaper than using the electric oven.

Mrs S wouldn't be without her Ninja. Brilliant bit of kit.

But don't ask me how to use it

Thanks guys .... on the basis of what you have posted it seems that an Air Fryer is a bit restricted, tis great for making chips or as a back up else to compliment hob and / or oven usage.

Our 7 week rotating menu system includes only three choices with chips so I probably need input on a more sophisticated Ninja ... A variation of this one perhaps ?

This is presently the favourite but where to put it is the problem :?

Also ... we have approx 35,000 Nectar Points which could result in a decent discount at Argos if I knew how to calculate the value of the Nectar Points :(

That looks the business Moby. Once you’ve had one you’ll wonder why you didn’t get one before.

As for your Nectar points, this might help

2 nectar points equal 1p, but you can get special offers which increase their value especially in Argos which Sainburys own.

If I've done my sums right then it could be mine Mobietta's for a mere £25

You said you had 35000 Nectar points, which at 0.5p each, equates to £175.

Correct .... Ninja would cost, ish, £200 but less £175 in Nectar Points which means that I need to only pay £25 for the Ninja. Which is what I said in #18

Sorry my mistake I didnt follow your convoluted calculations, but I did think that £25 was a reasonable price for a ninja. But I doubt at my age I would get full value for money out of paying £200 for one.
PS, incidentally you could get one from Amazon for £160, and then spend your nectar points on something you want.

I don't need anything apart from a Ninja which is why we have 35,000 Nectar points

Today Mobietta became the proud co-owner of a Ninja.

I wasn't entirely convinced at the outset because nearly every opinion I heard led me to believe that it's a chip making machine. Not so ...

Firstly we are heading into an energy crisis and I calculated that we could easily cook stuff in a Ninja that presently occupies a minor part of either, else both, of our 60 litre ovens.

I bought a book on Amazon by a chap called David Small. Lots of info and all the measurements are in English. Over the next few weeks we aim to make a few chips and heat up some Paul Hollywood rolls but will also make a cake and some Cauliflower soup just to get used to the thing.

We bought this one and it cost me a mere £2.50 ... plus all our Nectar Points of course.
