Are you sure about that? He is so deranged that I would not put anything past him - you just have to hope that when it comes to it that those on the ground defy him.

NATO forces do not operate the equipment we are supplying, but to police a no fly zone NATO warplanes would be the ones to attack russian planes.

I think that we all sympathise with the situation but I doubt that any of us know very much about International law, Geneva Convention, any of the applicable treaties or even the Rules of Engagement - obviously Putin doesn't

The majority of Russians don't know the truth. They only know what they are told and they are told that it is America and her allies that are aggressive and not them. That's why there will not be an uprising against Putin but they would welcome a punch up with the west.

I think that is a bit unfair if they are not being given access to the truth and are being "force fed" the state propaganda.

Only yesterday an edict was introduced that anyone mentioning the words "war" or "invasion" could be subject to 15 years in jail - which is why all the major TV networks have suspended their reporting in Russia.

Indeed they have suppressed any news which reflects the true scale of events so the Russian peoples only have access to state propaganda. News does filter through from those who live outside Russia but the punishment for saying anything about the state are so severe they are careful not to say anything otherwise they will face a knock on their door.
There are thousands locked up who have protested against the war. It is an evil regime for the ordinary Russian people.

I read yesterday of parents living in Russia who refuse to believe that their adult children living in the Ukraine have been bombed - their stock answer seems to be that Putin said he won’t bomb Ukraine so it can’t be true. Surely they can’t think their children are making it up - even photos are dismissed as fake - I really despair

Sadly not sure, more like hopeful. I think he is using the nuclear threat, explicit or implied, as a deterrent to scare off the West from involvement. He knows very well that if Nato did implement a no fly zone and went in with its own aircraft it would be over for his forces in any conventional war on the ground. They'd be wiped out in days. My worry, more for Ukraine than us, is what he will do next as his frustration grows. He doesn't need the western media to tell him it's not the walkover his advisors promised. Even if they were only sparing their own necks by telling him what he wanted to hear.

Dominic Raab gives as good as he takes.
He was asked the same question (about the no fly zone) in the same interview and he told the presenter he had already answered that question (were'nt you listening?). He was then in the middle of answering a question when he was being constantly interrupted so he told them if you would like me to answer the question I will do so.
I do wonder if our politicians just get a little tired of being asked the same question over and over again and tolerating the rudeness of some of these presenters. I know I would do.
