Ukrainian Refugees

Unread post by david63 »

How many of us are willing to take Ukrainian refugees into our homes when the scheme becomes available next week? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60701941

We were only saying last week that if we could then we would but I have an uneasy suspicion that whatever scheme the Government comes out with will mean that there are so many hoops to jump through that it will end up being too much effort - and also it will depend on what the T&Cs are of doing it.

I also suspect that they will start looking at those who are willing being near the entry points and then moving up the country - purely on logistical grounds.

I think it best if they were only being invited into homes with Ukrainian folk living in them, presumably subject to over crowding rules 'n' regs. In this way they will have a shared culture as opposed to living in a house with a couple of do-gooders from some place in, say, Surrey.

Not being heartless but…
The Ukrainian lad who plays for ManCity, Zinchenko. He was on telly last weekend saying how awful it is for his country and that his countrymen will fight to the last man.!

We’ll, I haven’t seen him dashing back to help.!

Hi David, in answer to your question my wife and I discussed this a couple of days ago. My wife said she would open our doors to a Ukrainian refuge family, I on the other hand would have to get my head around the implications e.g., time scales, age and health requirements etc before entering into such an arrangement.

I think Mobs approach would be the sensible way to go but we can all do our bit by making a donation.

Long live Ukraine
