I am increasingly becoming dissalusoined with politics.
An old colleague always said that politicians are all Liars,rogues and thieves, bit harsh there are some decent ones,somewhere.
Boris isn’t the most honest guy on the planet but I feel that since he won the election he has been dealt a sh*t deck.! Of course he could have handled somethings better,hey hindsight.!

With energy and Oil prices going through the roof and not wanting to fund Putin he made the decision to go to the Middle East to try to drum up some business, pardon the pun.
Labour accuse him of going Cap in hand to Saudi, what’s the guy got to do.? Maybe ask Iran or some other nasty horrible despotic regime.
For goodness sake, give the guy a break.

If our sanctions are to work against Russia then we don't have much choice other than to seek oil from Saudi Arabia.

The Government Covid cruise travel site has just been updated to reflect the fact that a PLF will not be required after 4 am Friday - another step in the right direction in getting cruising back to something resembling normal.

There is a rumour going around that P&O will be updating their Covid protocols tomorrow - but it may be just to be about the PLF.

I know it’s difficult to appreciate companies with the same name not being linked eg Rolls-Royce cars & aero engines but it is annoying to see so many pictures of Iona & Britannia alongside reports of P&O ferries suspending sailings & tying up.

It's too much I suppose to expect reporters just to insert one sentence saying that P&O Ferries are a completely different company from P&O Cruises and that P&O Cruises are not affected in any way.

Rent a gob leftie on Vine show today had the answer to the fuel crisis. Put up the living wage and lower the energy price cap. Which will be paid for how? And what will happen when all the big energy companies go bust like the small ones because they can't charge enough to cover wholesale energy costs?

I like to think that I’m financially in the centre but definitely socially on the left.
Being a pragmatist, I like to look at the problems that people face and consider practical solutions.
Chucking money at any given problem rarely works.
A perfect example is the influx of immigrants crossing the channel (not refugees)
It’s fine people saying that they should be looked after better but nobody, and I mean nobody has a practical solution.
I checked properties to rent in our area recently after a young lady was on local tv saying she couldn’t rent anywhere for her family.
There was three properties in Bideford and four in Barnstaple.
These are the two largest towns.
There is no social housing available so, who has the answers?
As a point of interest, there are over 2,400 Airbnb properties available.
Maybe the answer is to compel Airbnb owners to long term rent to both locals and refugees.
I dunno .
Better still would be a massive social housing program so people actually have a secure home.
Old fashioned council houses, anyone?

I cannot believe (well yes I can) the number of people threatening to cancel cruises over the behaviour of P&O Ferries - one guy even going so far, after it was pointed out that they are totally unconnected companies, to insist that P&O Cruises changes its name immediately.

I couldn’t agree more Barney,the scale of second home ownership is terrible.
On the issue of Social/ Council housing, this has been terribly mismanaged since Maggie began the sell off. I don’t disagree with the right to buy but they should have been replaced on a one for one . I grew up in a council house,it was built in 1947 by German POWs. One of them scratched his name on the cement surrounding the drain cover, bit of useless information.!
I may be wrong but I think the idea for right to buy was Maggies attempt to break the Unions, saying to workers , go on strike now you’ve got a mortgage.?

I understood the deal on right to buy was supposed to be the proceeds went to councils to fund building new houses. In reality it never happened. Did local authorities trouser the cash or did the government do so? There is certainly a strong case for building more social housing at affordable rents. Round our way rental properties, social and private are hard to come by.

If the reports of the Russian invasion being held up by vastly outnumbered Ukraine forces, and that they are taking high casualties of both men and equipment are correct, then might not now be a great opportunity for NATO to intervene and wipe out the rest of Putins forces?

It was actually the Labour Party who introduced the ' Right to Buy ' scheme, Maggie then developed the legislation to gain Political advantage and a whole host of new home owners.

I would like to think that is what would happen but I would not like to take that chance

What gives Putin the right to tell a country whether they can join NATO or not, and snatch back land, like Russia isn’t a big enough country already.


As John mentioned, he’s just a bully throwing his weight around and someone that needs kicking into touch. I vote we send Onelife
