Quality job seekers

Unread post by Kendhni »

I have spent about half my time carrying out interviews over the last couple of weeks.
I know todays youth often take a bit of a bashing at times but I was very very impressed with the high quality of candidates that I interviewed from several different countries. Most had taken the time to do their research on both the company and the interviewers and had done a nice job of having a very presentable online presence (naturally we do research on all candidates). Every candidate showed real motivation and desire to get the jobs which made our decision process incredibly difficult .. I would gladly have been willing to mentor and work with any of them.

If that is an example of the quality our universities, and those from other countries around the world, are producing then once we get around the current issues and allow the next generation freedom to express and grow, then we should all be proud of that generation. Fantastic, well educated, skilled and motivated young ones coming onto the job market

Good to hear. There are some good young people out there. Sadly there are some wasters too. And as my boss once said "it's the flies on the cowpats in the field that make the most noise".

I have noticed that there are a lot of young folk out there that are prepared to put in a fair degree of effort to do a decent day's work - just as long as they have their "phone time"!!

Is that really any different to any previous generation?

It’s the same with people in all walks of life. You will always get the wasters and workers, the good mannered and the ignorant spoilt brats.

Mrs S and I were out for our daily walk yesterday and young man was jogging toward us so we moved to one side for him which he politely thanked us for as he went pass. I commented how pleasant it was to see a young person with good manners.

probably not.

10 or so years ago JD was working from home when we were snowed in - she had remote access. At one point I noticed she was on Facebook and commented that she was supposed to be working.

"It's my fag break - everyone is allowed [can't remember how many] minutes fag break every day , so I have a FB break instead!"
