Tracing an old Pension

Unread post by haveabeer »

Hi reaching the grand old age of 65 next month i remembered as a young lad
working for a small company it was taken over by a very large company and
we where included into the company pesion scheme i think i paid in for 5/6 years
when i left the company i was given a summary of how much i had paid in and was told that
i would have to claim it upon reaching 65 now the question is i no longer have that summary
the company does not seem to be in business now
i have used the Gov pension tracing service they found it but i cant find out how to trace the
company or where to start.
Been told to ring DWP they will be able to supply the dates i paid from and to where do i go from there any ideas

If you are talking about contributions to the State Pension then the DWP ' should ' have all the details. I advise should because they have lost a whole pile of records but that will actually work in your favour, albeit eventually.

You should start the ball rolling by requesting a Pension Forecast .... Newcastle Long Benton-ish I recall. You will receive a very long winded written response but it will contain the number of full years that qualify for consideration and from this you will know if there are any years missing or not.

This may help but I do not know if this is the latest contact point

Sorry

The sum involved will be so small that they will probably send you £20 as a full and final settlement, at least that is what happened to Mobietta ( £15 in her case ) even though the Company was still up and running and she had the certificate proving her claim.

In your case it could potentially cost you more than that to locate and retrieve it.
