It’s a bit like the front page of the Daily Mail in here.

One can only presume our Boris-lovies are finding it harder and harder to defend the indefensible?

Re: Current Affairs
I do have to hand it to whoever is now doing Alistair Campbells job for the Labour party. AC managed to drip feed loads of stories about the cash for questions "scandall", which led to Blair winning the 1997 GE. I just hope the electorate is not as gullible this time around.Gill W wrote: 24 May 2022, 10:10It’s a bit like the front page of the Daily Mail in here.

Labour are clearly panicking that Sue Gray may not deliver the killer blow they are hoping for. And such hypocrisy. St Hindsight pictured with a drink in hand.... nothing to aee here. Boris pictured with drink in hand and investigated by police, who apparently cleared him.... police obviously got it wrong.

Nothing to see here.
Move along.
The world of alternative truth has arrived.
Shameful really but that’s the method of operation of this totally detached individual who honestly thinks that nothing actually applies to him.

How come Johnson didn't get a fine attending that party yet others, who were at the same party did?

I would like to know who got the £10,000 fines for organising the parties?

Re: Current Affairs
Quite clearly because his attendance was totally work related, giving a farewell thankyou speech to a senior member of staff, which is what happens routinely in hundreds of well managed offices throughout the country.Bensham33 wrote: 24 May 2022, 14:27How come Johnson didn't get a fine attending that party yet others, who were at the same party did?

Re: Current Affairs
They were having a party (did you see all the open booze bottles on the table?) A party was not reasonably needed for work purposes, and was against the law at the time this party happened. The police have agreed that this was a party as fixed penalty notices have been given to attendees of this particular party that happened on 13th November 2020.towny44 wrote: 24 May 2022, 15:23Quite clearly because his attendance was totally work related, giving a farewell thankyou speech to a senior member of staff, which is what happens routinely in hundreds of well managed offices throughout the country.Bensham33 wrote: 24 May 2022, 14:27How come Johnson didn't get a fine attending that party yet others, who were at the same party did?
Of course, as ever, the partying is only part of the the story. Johnson was asked in parliament 'was there party in Downing Street on 13th November 2020' and he replied that there wasn't and there all rules were adhered to. Now we see that he himself was actually at a party that broke the low, so he's clearly misled parliament. in any other era, he'd have resigned long ago.
What amazes me, that people are still willing to debase themselves in supporting this man devoid of any honour. Or, if they can't quite bring themselves to support him, they still haven't got it in them to say that his behaviour is shameful, and would rather mutter something about Labour.

Re: Current Affairs
Not during the pandemic they weren't. It was against the law. The law that Johnson and his cronies bought in and one he said didn't happen. So how come he escaped a fine when others at the same party didn't?towny44 wrote: 24 May 2022, 15:23[quote=Bensham33 post_id=322134 time=1653

Re: Current Affairs
Unless you were there how do you know what Boris did or did not do?
But as my mother used to say 'What they don't know they make up '.
The police have investigated and declared their verdict. That's it as far as I'm concerned. Totally bored with it

Re: Current Affairs
Sounds like it was more extensive than previously reported - a proper Westminster p*ss up on countless occasionsoldbluefox wrote: 19 May 2022, 19:56If there are 200-300 work at No 10 (although I'm not sure if the investigation didn't include other sites) and 50 summonses were issued with some getting more than one summons it would seem the partying wasn't as extensive as some would have us believe. Not acceptable but hardly a Westminster p*as up.

Re: Current Affairs
I read that. So who are these insiders?
Boris Bashers?
Left wing civil servants?
Civil servants who have been fined?
Civil servants who have been fired for their misdemeanours?
Disillusioned Tories looking for a change of leadership?
Civil servants who have been fined and may now be named in Sue Gray's report?
There's plenty in and around No10 and Whitehall who might enjoy putting in their two penn'orth but it's already been investigated by the police. It's dead in the water except for those who cannot accept what they discovered.

Re: Current Affairs
I’m not defending Boris.!
Question is:
Why did it take so long for the photo to appear.?
Party attendees interviewed on the Beeb ( in anonymity) have a lot to say.! If they they disagreed with what was happening, why did they not excuse themselves.?
Asking for a friend.

I can't believe the naivety of those who think we are defending Boris.
I don't agree with the happenings at Westminster but neither do I agree with everything Sky, the BBC, The Evening Standard, The Mirror, The Guardian or any other newspaper says. So why did it take so long and what does it actually show apart from somebody raising a glass?

As usual I expect it was the lawyers that came out smiling out of all this.
I would like to think this money is being paid out of their own pockets, but I very much doubt it.

I commend your impartiality but your frequent references to ‘Boris Bashers’ (on this forum) seems to imply a bias towards he who has misled parliament and stuck two fingers up to the millions who were required to follow the rules he chose to ignore.oldbluefox wrote: 24 May 2022, 17:42I can't believe the naivety of those who think we are defending Boris.

The media are really going to town and milking this, while Rome burns.
I am getting on with my life, time for others to do the same, but expect this to have a few more miles left in it.
