I did eventually get it on the fourth try but with help of a word list, but I nearly gave up. I got the second and third letters in the right places eventually but until the final try they were the only letters I found up to then.

Four today. At the moment I'm using a different starter word each time as my original one, which contains 3 vowels and hasn't been any use recently, but then neither of any of the ones I've used since.
It would be good to get the answer in two attempts but I've only done it once and then it was a fluke.

I dont worry too much about getting the word in the lowest number, in fact I quite like the challenge of trying a number of attempts, just as long as I get it in the end.

With only 1 letter in my first 2 words, and only 1 vowel, I found todays rather difficult, so was happy to get a "phew".

I know what you mean about the challenge of finding the word rather than guessing quickly. Yesterday I was initially pleased with myself because I got it in two guesses, but then it was finished for that day. When it takes me four or five guesses I do get enjoyment when I finally solve it. Now off to look at today's puzzle.

I had 2 correct location letters in the first word today, and managed to get it in a "magnificent" 2.

Why is it that when there is a choice of consonants to complete the word I always need the maximum number of attempts to get the elusive letter?
(Or is it simply that I forget the times I ‘guess lucky’?)

Lucky guess for me today - got it in three  I had the 4th letter correct in 1st and 2nd lines so complete guess on third line. I agree with you Ranchi about frustration of too many options - it’s often a “phew” for me

4 for me too. I went back to my original starter word as I hadn't much luck with choosing others. What happens? One letter not in the correct place. A lucky guess at a second word gave me three letters one in the right place so managed to get it in four.

I got lucky on the second row…& of course made the wrong choice of consonant in row 3. Fortunately my first attempt at row 4 was rejected. Was feeling very pleased with myself until I attempted Quordle & only got two of the answers!

I also had two in the correct place plus one in the wrong place with the first word, but solved it in two
