I can't believe the naivety of those who think we are defending Boris.
I don't agree with the happenings at Westminster but neither do I agree with everything Sky, the BBC, The Evening Standard, The Mirror, The Guardian or any other newspaper says. So why did it take so long and what does it actually show apart from somebody raising a glass?
I commend your impartiality but your frequent references to ‘Boris Bashers’ (on this forum) seems to imply a bias towards he who has misled parliament and stuck two fingers up to the millions who were required to follow the rules he chose to ignore.
Indeed it is merely a reference to those who fail to see there are two sides to any story but are merely motivated by left wing media and take it as gospel truth using it to knock Boris at every opportunity.

For the record, which can be confirmed by checking back posts, I have been referring to Boris Bashers long before any parties were held and lies were told or not told. Long before every decision he made in early days of the pandemic were questioned with the benefit of hindsight. In fact right back to the days when Bashers were formerly known as Remoaners, those who refused to accept the result of the referendum. My use of the term is not a defence of Boris, who can be a prize idiot. It's a criticism of those who attack him every time he takes breath while being utterly devoid of any meaningful better ideas. Also for the record the only party I have ever been a member of is Labour. A party I voted for until Bliar took us into an illegal war which cost us countless lives and for which we are still paying the price, and Brown flogged the family silver. If Labour ever want my vote back they'll need a better leader than St Hindsight and better policies than I'm not Boris.

The media are really going to town and milking this, while Rome burns.
I am getting on with my life, time for others to do the same, but expect this to have a few more miles left in it.
The media are in it to make money either by selling papers or increasing viewer numbers. They don't care whether what they publish is half truths they are looking to wind everybody up until their next scoop comes along. And for some it works as they hang on every word.

When that term is used, it seems to me it’s a way to discredit anybody who speaks up about Johnson’s behaviour, and therefore to minimise what they say.

There has been a large amount of evidence about so called partygate already, and the Sue Gray report is due tomorrow. I don’t think anybody needs to be a ‘Boris Basher’ to acknowledge that he has caused much damage with his behaviour and the lies. What I don’t understand is that still people try and deflect from admitting this in public with talk of Brexit, Blair, fretting about the media and whistleblowers motives and yes, Boris Bashing.

It’s all very strange, and smacks of an inexplicable devotion to a man who doesn’t deserve it. It’s….odd, to say the least.

I've been honest with my view of Boris. He's an idiot. Can you tell me honestly your dislike of him didn't start with Brexit?

I really would like to know the politics of all news reporters on TV and the media. As I listen to the BBC news hounds I can only assume they are all left wing voting remainers, their vitriol is clear to see dripping from their fangs as they try to whip up their viewers in a wild anti Boris frenzy.
As I said earlier this reminds so much of the latter stages of the Major govt, and I suspect there is a machiavellian Labour spin doctor feeding this media frenzy.

It was during his tenure as London mayor that I became fully aware that the ‘Boris’ persona was a construct, and that there was something not right about him, although it didn’t affect me directly at the time. But my ‘dislike’ as you put it, started from that time

My dislike of Boris stems from the fact that he struggles (off script) to put two coherent sentences together, this makes him suseptable to the barrage of frenzied media attacks he brings upon himself.

He is a leader without principle, and if left in position will create a culture of likeminded individuals who are allowing themselves to tainted by the very same values he represents.

It is as I said many times before…. He ain't up to the job.

Bring back Theresa  :)

As Ian Blackford said at PMQ, the fish rots from the head downwards.

I don't think your Theresa was terribly good at being PM, but she was honest, hardworking and principled. I couldn't imagine that the partygate culture would have been allowed to thrive under her leadership.

From Kevin Maguire of the Daily Mirror, here's a potted summary of the Sue Grey report.

Vomiting
Excessive boozing
Fisticuffs
Partying until 4.35am(before Prince Philip's funeral)
Broken swing
Secret Santa
Cleaners & security staff bullied
Red wine on walls
Karaoke
Sitting on laps

Well you could strike me down with a feather guvnor.
The Grey report has been out for what. 2 hrs.? Not a single word from the people who don’t like Boris ( won’t call them Boris Bashers ) they don’t like it you know.

It doesn’t make good reading,Boris is at fault for some of it but he has been badly let down , dare I even say betrayed by Civil Servants both junior and senior, ones who should have known better but hey ho, let battle commence.

Seems I was a tad late with this.😂😂

No question the report shows a poor culture within Whitehall (not all the parties were in Downing Street). Bur let's not forget the vast majority of those involved were Civil Servants. Their senior line managers are Civil Servants. The majority would have been in post before Boris arrived. It is quite right he has apologised for what happened on his watch. But let's not kid ourselves this appalling culture only appeared after he arrived. Or even after the Tories arrived. I have little doubt it will have been developing over years. It has come to light now because of Covid. That doesn't excuse it but should give some perspective to the anti Boris saints.

Now be fair Screwy. The Mail, the Express and the Telegraph are biased. The Mirror, The Guardian, The Independent, the Observer are balanced and entirely non partisan.

We don’t need a journalist, biased or not, to explain that this charlatan has been well and truly sussed and is on borrowed time.
The guy literally has no shame.
