Hot Hot Hot
I read that placing a 2 litre bottle of frozen water in front of your fan help keep your room cool….It works… I’m sat here in my lounge with a coat on

Re: Hot Hot Hot
For those who don’t know….Hot drinks… “the moment the hot liquid makes contact with the body's temperature receptors, the brain tells the body to produce more sweat. This sweat then cools on the surface of the skin, reducing the sensation of us being too warm and ultimately, making us feel cooler”.
Btw… Tetley’s are now giving away free deodorant with every 250 box of tea bags

I decided to open all of the windows and sit down naked.
The other passengers on the bus weren’t too impressed.

I have heard that but always wondered if it was true or just a myth.Onelife wrote: 11 Jul 2022, 11:34For those who don’t know….Hot drinks… “the moment the hot liquid makes contact with the body's temperature receptors, the brain tells the body to produce more sweat. It is the same as the idea of, rather than removing clothing, put on a light cotton top instead which (allegedly) helps to wick sweat away from the body ... especially when trying to sleep.

Re: Hot Hot Hot
This was always put forward by the older members of my family when I was growing up, usually after I had been refused an ice cream or ice lolly to cool me down, a cup of tea being presumably far cheaper.Kendhni wrote: 11 Jul 2022, 13:51I have heard that but always wondered if it was true or just a myth.Onelife wrote: 11 Jul 2022, 11:34For those who don’t know….Hot drinks… “the moment the hot liquid makes contact with the body's temperature receptors, the brain tells the body to produce more sweat. From what I have read it is true Ken but not for people like me who rarely sweat…I could wear a shirt for a week and still come up smelling of roses.Kendhni wrote: 11 Jul 2022, 13:51I have heard that but always wondered if it was true or just a myth.Onelife wrote: 11 Jul 2022, 11:34For those who don’t know….Hot drinks… “the moment the hot liquid makes contact with the body's temperature receptors, the brain tells the body to produce more sweat. Re: Hot Hot Hot
I think it's the same principle with cold showers - if the water's cold your body frantically tries to warm you up so you get out sweatier than ever. Having a cold blast at the start feels good, but gradually increase the temperature to just below blood temperature and then one emerges feeling cooler!

Re: Hot Hot Hot
They are currently cutting the fields/crops at the bottom of our road, so high temps, feeling hot and sticky mixed with crop dust is going down nicely.

I suppose it is the same during the winter ... I was always told that one of the worst things you can do to try to warm up is hug a radiator. That causes one part to be warmer than the other ultimately making you feel cold. Apparently it is better to stand far enough back that a more even heat distribution can be given.

For staying cool in bed I believe one of the best solutions is to sleep on damp sheets ... from what I have heard this is not a problem for many old men.
