Re: Hot Hot Hot

Just been to our local Tesco only to find that most of the fridges are not working "because of the heat". Listening to one of the staff explaining the problem it is due to the fact that the compressors are on the roof and keep tripping out because of the heat.

Now I may be forgiven for stating the obvious but don't they have fridges in countries where it is hot all the time, such as the Middle East, and their fridges are not tripping out at the first signs of some heat.

We’ve just had a deluge 😁
It was like liquid sunshine from heaven.
I was walking on the beach and got caught up in it and soaked and it felt wonderful.
I’m just off to Tesco to check the freezers.
I’ll report back 😂

We build things for our expected climate whereas other countries build for their climates. The current conditions would be considered extraordinary, although likely to get more common over the coming years, so we may have to rethink and adapt behaviours and regulations to possibly suit a warmer climate.

Similarly during a bad winter we have to close everything down, whereas other countries will continue on, even in much worse weather ... we build for the norm, not the extremes. The infrastructure in other countries could not cope with the amount of rain we get.

Strangely we have been having trouble with Teams/Zoom over the last couple of days ... but, when I looked into it, it has been reported that we may experience broadband issues due to the heat.

I fully agree with that but with the Tesco fridges this happened on Sunday afternoon when the highest temperature was 31C - not exactly excessive for this this country.

As an aside, check when your bin/recycling is being collected this week.

All collections have been put forward a day round our way because of no collections today due to high temperatures.

As usual, north Devon is bucking the trend
Currently a pleasant 22c with a very light drizzle, clearing to sunshine by about four.
Early evening beach walk and a couple of pints on the agenda.

That seems strange ... I would have thought 31C would be within normal parameters ????

We returned late last night back to the City, 10pm it was boiling. Today we have two big fans running and while welcome, it is seriously hot, now missing the sea breeze at the coast.
On a good note, our return is so we can set up for a party on Saturday, done the beer run early this morning. The temperature looks good for Saturday, so glad it will not be as hot like today.

I think part of the problem with high temperatures in UK is the humidity which goes along with it and makes it uncomfortable. On the continent and further afield it's more of a dry heat. Elsewhere there can be high humidity which is not very pleasant at all.

That’s because up there you think anything over 15deg is a heat wave, whereas down here at Costa Del Sahara we have to be a bit more careful :D

Can you send a postcode for the satnav? We can be there by 7 and the car is nice and cool.

That's like the difference between FL and CA.
California has a dry bearable heat whereas Florida is very humid.
