I'm just so glad she made it to see the Jubilee celebrated. We'll wait a long time for another of those.

So we have lived most of our lives through the Second Elizabethan period, what will Charles' reign be called ?

She is going to be a hard act to follow.

The Queen was determined to fulfil the promise she made on her 21st birthday and she did just that. Amazing that two days previously she was able to appoint her 15th Prime Minister. I remember when her father, King George VI died, I was at Infant School. I lived in Slough and there was a train line at the bottom of our garden. I remember being taken to watch as the train carrying the King's body travelled from London to Windsor where he was to be buried. My mother pointed out that the carriage on the train with the blinds drawn down was the one carrying the King's coffin.

Her Majesty certainly lived a life devoted to duty and was loved and respected all over the world. Thank you Ma'am.

God Save The King.

I was saying to Mrs B after the sad news, that hopefully this would be the catalyst for a reconciliation within the family.
Let’s hope that Harry comes to his senses and realises how petulant he’s been.
Family is so very important.
I literally couldn’t imagine being estranged from my family.

I see Harry has already left Balmoral. How sad, not much chance of a reconciliation then.

RIP to such a wonderful queen.

Well this day had to come. Our wonderful, beautiful, devoted Queen has died. I do feel sad but my sadness is nothing compared to the gratitude and thanks I feel for this remarkable woman. She's always been there throughout our lives and now she's gone.

God save the King.

It seems really strange when they talk about 'The King'. It's going to take a long time for that to properly sink in. I see that Charles has returned to London, and was warmly received by the crowds outside Buckingham Palace.

The Queen touched us all in some way - I don't think we'll ever see a monarch like her again.

I read that Harry and Meghan's children have been promoted to Prince and Princess, as they are grandchildren of the reigning monarch

That should please Onelife, and maybe speed up his recovery.

It was nice to see King Charles going around the gathering of people and shaking their hands on his return to Buckingham Palace. I’m sure it would have done him as much good as it did the people who gathered to see him.

…..apart from one idiot with a movie camera and microphone who thought he could get a quick interview. That wasn’t going to happen which the burley protection officers soon made clear.

The ‘Carolean ‘ era.

So I’m led to believe.

I was just interviewing our local MP and she mentioned all the subtle things that will change. Stamps, banknotes, even post boxes over time. And QC's have become KC's. And despite the change in rules that removed the precedence of men in the succession it will be a long time before we see another Queen, well beyond most of our lifetimes.

Didn't realise she had her own squad.....

An excellent speech and tribute to the country and his late mother from King Charles. How he held it together I don’t know.

Mrs S and I were both reaching for the tissues.

Yes us too. Very powerful. Delighted we now have a new Prince of Wales and our first Princess of Wales since Diana 25 years ago. And a huge olive branch, pretty much a whole tree, extended to Harry and Meghan. Next move very much in their court. Just hope it's not to continue trashing his family.

We also thought that Charles speech was well presented and just the right style. But there were some excellent homages from Westminster as well, Keir Starmer struck just the right note, Boris was entertaining and heartfelt, and Theresa's was very humorous but respectful.
The strikes have been called off and there is an aura of national unity, I wonder how long it will last.

It made a change to see them all being so respectful to one another as well.

Liz Truss could do well to take a few lessons from Theresa on how to deliver a speech

Lts just hope Truss delivers better on her promises than Theresa did on Brexit.
