Delayed flight excuses from flight deck

Unread post by Kendhni »

Easyjet transfer flight delayed by 2 hours 54 minutes, excuse ...
- late arrival of incoming plane due to air traffic control issues; lack of baggage handling staff; unable to get slot for take off (sitting on plane for over an hour). Interestingly for this one the airport flight boards kept changing the 'more information, time' every 20 minutes or so while the EasyJet app continually showed the correct time of departure.

TUI flight to Malta delayed by almost 3 hours, excuse ...
- late arrival of incoming plane due to air traffic control issues; lack of baggage handling staff; unable to get slot for take off (sitting on plane for 90 minutes)

TUI flight to Gatwick delayed by over 2.5 hours, excuse ...
- late arrival of incoming plane due to air traffic control issues; lack of baggage handling staff; unable to get slot for take off (sitting on plane for an hour)

EasyJet transfer flight
- no excuse given; sitting on plane for an hour waiting for slot

I think they are all reading off the same 'not my fault' script to prevent delayed flight compensation claims.

In fairness I do believe that there are problems with French air traffic control at the moment which is impacting on many flights

That would mean probably even fewer baggage handlers.

I thought asylum seekers were not allowed to work?

French air traffic control strikes.
Numerous Ryanair EU countries striking.
Usual problems associated with flying.
Hardly news, is it?

While my comment was obviously meant in humour, you are correct asylum seekers are not allowed to work until their claim is granted or 12 months has passed since making their claim (rumours related to vast sums of benefits and job stealing was just garbage spread by xenophobic hate mongers ... fortunately I don't believe such people post on this site).

TUI took a £66m hit between April and June - with figures for later in the summer yet to be released, after canceling flights, delayed flights, unscheduled stops to pick up crew members for other flights and changing departure and arrival airports at the last minute then having to bus passengers from airport to airport.

Almost makes P&O looks the model of efficiency.
Don't worry, be happy

Based on reports all airlines are a mess at the minute. The travel industry shouted about being allowed to open but somewhere over the last couple of years the airlines/airports seem to have lost the ability to operate effectively ... worse still they do not seem to care.

They don't need to care at the moment, they have plenty of people or things they can blame it on.
