I don't suppose that there is any chance that the country, and politicians, can maintain the recent calm and togetherness that has abounded for the past week.
🤣🤣🤣.

Ah, the innocence of youth.!
Not a bloody chance.

One thing that i have found somewhat of concern is that on the BBC there has been no reporting of any dissenting groups or protests about the Monarchy this last week (other than a couple of minor incident) - I cannot believe for one minute that there has not been any. I can perhaps understand why there has been nothing reported but it could be considered censorship - the Beeb's job is to report the news not decide what should or should not be reported.
There has been multiple reports of various protests around the world inc. Australia, New Zealand, India, America, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and even England ... also a Russian reporter thinking that Russia should have bombed the funeral. Not forgetting that vile excuse of a human being, Uju Anya, and someone wanting to knock on the coffin to tell the Queen to "get up". Not sure if any of them were reported by the BBC though.

Certainly the media are not going to allow them to remain calm, obviously good news is not good for sales of newspapers or for viewing figures.

I saw one report from Northern Ireland, it was filmed in an area where Republic-ism ruled Ok. Nobody was looking to be confrontational or controversial.

I saw loads of reports about dissenting groups, anti monarchists etc on the BBC. Practically every day for 12 days. I don't know about other channels, I only watch Aunty.

I agree that that them brill pall bearers should get a medal of some sort but there was 9 of them the 8 that carried the coffin and then the bloke what guided them in and out. If you know what I mean.

Plus the guy at the rear, who had to steady it as they went up the steps to St Geoges Church.

I saw an interview this morning with one of the pall bearers - he is a 19 year old from Jersey - what a responsibility each of those young men had. I held my breath as they mounted the steps - the guy at the rear with his hand steadying the coffin more than did his bit

I was fascinated by his quiet instructions, almost coffin carrying by numbers but which only helped to heighten the care they were giving to HM. What a responsibility but how gentle and careful were they. They were truly magnificent.

Similarly in Scotland who afforded the Queen the care and respect such an occasion merited. We remarked on Princess Anne's fortitude in escorting HM and then realised we had followed the hearse every inch of the way to Edinburgh!!!

No - it had some special fixings - you could see the Royal Jeweller undoing it in Windsor.

Apparently royal coffins have fixings built into them for everything that rests on the coffin.

All in all the past two weeks were wonderfully put together with the weather mostly playing its part. The colours and members of the forces made for spectacular viewing. A fitting ceremony of the highest order for saying goodbye to her Majesty

The security at the designated Car Parks at Windsor was awesome according to No 1 son who stayed there overnight for two nights. He added that it took him 3 hours just to get out of the Car Park when the proceedings were all over.

I thought the funeral was a perfect send off for our queen of 70 years.

Unforgettable moments -
The procession through the streets of London, with the beat of the drum, the tolling of the bell and the boom of the guns
The lone piper at Westminster and Windsor (I shed a few tears at both of these points).
The wonderful pallbearers
The Queen's horse and corgis at Windsor
The symbolism of the removal of the crown, orb and sceptre, and the breaking of the staff.
The grief etched on Charles's face at the end.

I read that Charles has now gone up to Balmoral. I hope he can get some rest. He's 74 in November, and what he's been through in the last two weeks would finish off someone half his age.

Personally, I'm happy to stick with the monarchy, as I have real worries about the sort of president we would get in the event of a republic....

I felt "short changed" with that. We told he was going to break his staff and I was expecting him to actually do that - not just pull it apart!!

Same here. I thought 'what's going on here'. I was expecting him to break it over his knee not have it already prepped to just fall in half.

Now where did I put my compo form.

You could see on a few occasions he was trying to hold it together.
Edward was the only one that seemed to lose the stiff upper lip during the service.

I said to Mrs B that it looks like it had been hacksawed for how easy it parted.

I found the breaking if the wand bit fascinating and he did break it. Never seen by the public before it was yet more history.

Looking at the way the lord chamberlain broke it I thought it might have been two bits held together by a magnet in the metal ferrels.

Whatever it was it was a very moving thing to watch. I knew the Lord Chamberlain did this to symbolise the end of the reign of Elizabeth II but I hadn't expected it to feel such a momentous thing to see. It was a very emotional day which I shared with my sister-in-law. I was very glad that I didn't watch the service and all the proceedings on my own. It certainly showed the rest of the world how things should be done.

It was a major national event viewed around the world to a monarch who had devoted her life to the nation and was respected around the globe. She deserved nothing less.

I wonder how much inheritance tax Charles will have to pay from his late mothers’ estate?
