What a wonderful piece of of news to get people to take notice Celebrations tubs of chocolates. I think a lot of us took the news that the small bounty bars in celebrations were being withdrawn from Celebrations tubs in disbelief. After all the spreading of the news through the media, Mars came clean to admit it was a publicity stunt. Marvelous.
I love a bounty bar especially the dark chocolate bars and couldn't believe the report that people were leaving them. Someone has a bonus coming from Mars for all the free publicity from this stunt.

Ken and I will have to fight it out for the Bounty and Maltesers. I'd vote for a tinful of them and leave the others out.
Anyone notice the tin has twice the volume of the sweets in it and chocolates in a box are spread so far apart by plastic packaging it's a wonder they don't get lonely.

Shrinking tins and excessive packaging is endemic these days. I remember when Wagon Wheels were big enough for, well wagons. I swear they're Wheelbarrow Wheels now.

The prices go up but the product shrinks.

Mrs S brought a multi pack of six individual packets of Kettle crisps the other day. I had to get a torch to find the contents. Won’t be making that mistake again.

I remember when the tin of Quality Street was 1.2kg or you could get a larger 1.5kg.
Now it seems to be about half that at 650g ... you need at least 2 just to make it to christmas.

I love marzipan. In the Fatherland we used to get chocolate covered marzipan bars and now they have them in Aldi and Lidl. Wonderful!!

We were reminiscing the other day when chocolates in their little crimpled paper cases were packed tightly in their boxes and walnut whips had thick piped chocolate instead of the lookalikes you get today.

I seem to remember that Duncan walnut whips had a half walnut on top as well as one inside on the base; and they were certainly too big to eat in one bite.

Back in the sixties we had Mackintosh' chocolate factory in our fine City and the caramel chocolate bar Caramac was put on the market, but prior to it's release free tasting bars were given away to try. Chocolate as I remember was not as smooth as it is today but our first taste of the Caramac bar was, wow, this is so smooth and a new taste was lovely. Now made by Nestlé I see it's still available, stood the test of time.
