Somehow Town managed to avoid the new manager bounce, we won the last game before the international break with the 2nd & 3rd coach in command, but then were thrashed on Saturday by Reading, however let's hope for a bit of bounce tonight against Luton.barney wrote: 04 Oct 2022, 15:07New manager bounce is normal.
Everyone is trying to impress.
Poor old Bilic knows that it’s automatic promotion of P45.
I’d wager that even if Watford lost in the playoffs, he’d be sacked.

Re: Football 22/23
We have Brighton kids tonight in the Pizza Cup and Gillingham Manager Neil Harris has publicly called it pointless.
He wants to put out as many of our youngsters possible without getting fined.
An absolute waste of time competition which will attract about 350, most of those on free tickets.
When it was league one and two, it was quite well supported.
On introduction of the Premier League under 23s, nobody is interested.

Re: Football 22/23
The Football League Trophy does seem a waste if time, an unnecessary expense especially now when clubs have to put their lights on for very small crowds, who get in for reduced prices. I suspect most clubs lose money. It does though give fans a chance to see their clubs young players, give those players an opportunity to play in stadiums and just like in the League Cup clubs and fans take it a bit more seriously the nearer they get to a Wembley Final. Good luck to the Gills please feel free to stuff the seaweed.

Our kids beat their kids 3-2
I watched and to be fair, it was a decent game.
Lewis Walker, son of Des, got his first goals for the Gills.
He may turn out to be a player.
We finished with a 17 year old up front who looks a right handful.
Btw, 853 crowd with a hardy 54 from the Seagulls.

What a farce
I have never seen a game with so many interruptions and hold ups, 20+ minutes were added. The ref's tech-o-pack packed up and the fans were all singing " You've got a flag and a whistle ... "
Sack Bilic I say.

Not really enthused ... my focus is presently on t' Hornets vs Reading on Sky Sports tonight
I plan to record the WC daily highlights and then to delete those with a low goal tally

How is Choudhury getting along Mob? Has he been injured as I have not seen him in your squad?
We seem to have had a shake up down at the KP because suddenly we have veered away from the tippy-tappy football around the back four to a more adventurous attacking style. We have a new set piece coach and suddenly Maddison, Barnes, Tielemanns & Co have come to life and are playing with some urgency.
I wonder if somebody has had a word in Brenda's ear and told him to pull his finger out. From conceding virtually at will every week we have gone to hardly conceding at all.

As for the World Cup I have watched England on so many occasions and it's pretty dreary what they are dishing up. There's not a lot to get the blood stirring but I suppose I will watch it more in hope than expectation. I think Southgate has too many players being picked on past reputation and are now too comfortable in the team.

On the last England performance, I don’t think I’ll be watching them for long…bring on the women I say.

I enjoyed watching the womens' brand of football more than that which Southgate keeps trotting out. As Craig would say, 'dull, boring, ghaaaastly darling'.

I am beginning to weary with the way the BBC and Sky Sports are pushing female sport.Onelife wrote: 08 Nov 2022, 15:52On the last England performance, I don’t think I’ll be watching them for long…bring on the women I say.![]()
I don't want to watch women boxing, it's just not my thing.
I think I would prefer womens football had it's own channel, the number of times I get excited about an upcoming match on TV, only to realise they are talking about a WSL game.
Strangely womens Rugby does seem to be more entertaining than mens for both codes, but since I rarely watch either then again I want it kept off the mens sports channels.
Am I turning into a misogynist?

I think you are John; I actually enjoyed the women’s football along with the atmosphere the family crowds generated.
I don’t particularly like seeing two ladies knocking the sh*t out of each other but can appreciate the skill levels required to get to that standard. I have enjoyed the world gymnastics, both men and women and would particularly like to see more pole dancing on tv as a spectator sport.

Good luck off times for armchair fans, 4 a day during the group games. I think 10 am, 1 pm, 4pm and 7pm. Think I'll watch a few of them
I won't get to see the Palace play again until Boxing Day because of this WC so I might as well watch it.

We have Brentford away in the cup tonight
I’m expecting an absolute tonking given how bad we’ve been lately.

Shows what I know.
Brentford never expected Gillingham to play a 6-4-0 lineup.

Town managed their first away win of the season yesterday at QPR, however they also lost to WBA at the weekend, so maybe we should not be thinking we have turned the corner just yet.

Re: Football 22/23
It must have been a long night for travelling Newport supporters. Three years ago they knocked us out of the cup so they were hoping they could do the same again.
In truth we were totally dominant and but for some poor finishing and chances wasted we should have had a hatful of goals. They packed the defence and we struggled to find a way through.
Now bring on the Gills

He's a star man and a regular inclusion in the team. He would have been ' Man of the Match ' vs Reading last night if Pedro hadn't scored both our goals. Basically we have turned him round and taught him how to pass the ball towards the opposition goal rather than his ownoldbluefox wrote: 08 Nov 2022, 15:27How is Choudhury getting along Mob?
