Our logs are kiln dried and contain less than 20% water resulting in a clean burning fire .... unlike those who forage their logs and / or drive stinky diesel buses and lorries.
“Ecodesign” wood burning stoves produce 450 times more toxic air pollution than gas central heating, according to new data published in a report from Prof Chris Whitty, the chief medical officer for England.

Just saying.

Just as well mine is a level 5 burner.

Mr Hill said: "Already as an industry we have been looking at improving the emissions and efficiency performance of wood burning stoves beyond the requirements of Ecodesign. A clearSkies certified level 5 appliance offers almost a 30 percent reduction in emissions and higher efficiency than the minimum legal requirements set out within the Ecodesign Regulation.

"All clearSkies Level 3 and above appliances have also been verified as having Defra exemption for use in Smoke Control Areas."He concluded: “Burning sustainably sourced wood fuel is currently the most cost-effective low carbon heating available."

With the price of gas these days burning your Chippendale dining chairs is more cost effective!

Sorry Merv but you cannot encourage Stephen to burn his chairs. Two things you did not think about, first is, in doing so it would cause even more pollution. Second, Stephen would have nothing to sit on at the table.

I may have to have stop doing that. Since the energy bill crisis their fridge contents have gone right down hill.

John will mind now that the wind has dropped and widespread fog is forecast.
