Gills v Daggers is a 7.15 kick off and on BBC3.
It will give us the chance to show the entire football world how far we have fallen and how shite we are.
We could possibly nick a win and face mighty Leicester in the next round, but it’s only papering over the cracks.

Good luck to the Gills

As an aside did you all know that FIFA stump up money for the Clubs who's players make appearances in the World Cup. In the case of t' Hornets they received £170,00 for the adventures of Sarr with Senegal.

£170? It would cost more than that for a ticket at Old Trafford. Should it not be £170k?

Canaries should be expecting a £213,000 payout for Josh Sargent playing for USA.
As we only bought him in 21, his former club will also get a slice as well.
Don't worry, be happy

Leicester are pretty well into the next round.
Given previous seasons, I’d say that’s the worst Gills team in thirty years.
January cannot come quickly enough for signing new players.

The ref was poor but we lost it in the first half - too slow, too ponderous and little threat. We looked better when we took the game to them and started causing problems but we were always chasing the game.
Disappointed with the performance.

We were the better side throughout, especially in the second half. Saka was fouled leading up to their first goal and we should have had a pen. Second half we had no luck. We did not deserve to lose that game.

I'm gutted for Kane and hope he isn't blamed.

I thought the first 20 minutes were a repeat of what we have witnessed throughout the competition, but from then on we started to inject a bit more pace into the game, alas, the only upside of tonight is that I had a tenner on ‘Bird of life’ at Wolverhampton tonight.

Maddison would have relished those free kicks on the edge of the penalty area. Just up his street. Never used by Southgate.

Your rose tinted specs must be fogged up! We were beaten by a better team who outplayed us for most of the game. We had no one approaching the skill levels of Mbappe, Greizmann and Dembele, their defenders were quicker to close us down and their passing and movement was streets ahead of our pedestrian pace.
But we hung in there and managed to keep it to a respectable score, but Saka apart we were second best.

I don’t have your or Foxy’s knowledge of football John but I think to say they were out played for most of the game is a bit harsh.

You are entitled to your opinion John but did you watch the game? Your verdict on England's performance was of the England team of the past. We've improved beyond all recognition since Gareth was put in charge. You clearly don't watch much football and I dont think you watched the game tonight if you think England were that bad. We did not deserve to lose that game. The French got away with one their and they know it.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I do watch the PL matches regularly, and I would love to see how the current England team would perform against say the current Manchester City side
I do agree that they are now much better under Southgate, but in comparison to teams of the past, their performances are very similar to some of our better teams of the past, Italy 1990 for example.
However the French outplayed them, IMO, because their transition was far faster and more penetrative, and their attacking midfield players were far more difficult to dispossess than we were. This enabled their attacks to be more dangerous than ours, as this skill enabled them to press into our penalty area before we could pack it with defenders, in contrast the French penalty area looked like Picadilly Circus at rush hour.
But we did pressure them and we deserved at least the 2 penalties that were given. But nearly all our shots on target were intercepted by defenders, and Lloris dealt with the others quite well.
It's a shame that we were due to meet France so soon, it would have been interesting to see how well we would have coped against Brazil or Argentina, but let's hope our overall skill factor improves further before 2026.

I thought the French were a better side than our lads, they had vulnerabilities at the back but we failed to exploit them. I also thought that the ref was very good, he was very experienced and didn't fall for the diving antics by Saka nor Kane, VAR got us the second penalty so no complaints there either.

Basically we were second best but that's how it is.
