She had plenty of friends warning her about the risk she was taking, according to her own accounts, but I guess she felt it was an opportunity she could not refuse. Just a pity she had to drag Harry down with her, when she realised the big mistake she had made.

I think Diana was coping very well until she found out Charlie was sticking his spoon in Camilla’s pudding.

It comes to something when there is a general consensus that entering the institution comes with ‘risks’…and you lot support and pay for this rabble of hereditary freeloaders

Where I do agree with you John is that it is a big mistake to go anywhere near this dysfunctional family.

Thank gawd Harry and Meghan got out of it. :D

It's not dysfunctional Keeffie, but it does require different functions to even the average upper class family. Those functions were the ones Meghan was not prepared to fulfill, again just a pity she chose to ignore the warnings from friends.

Gills match tomorrow has been called off so we’ll hunker down tomorrow afternoon and watch it.
I like to think I’m a fair bloke so I’ll reserve judgement until after, but, if it’s anything like the blatant untruths in the previous interview, I don’t think I’ll see it through to the end.
Mrs Barney will watch so you don’t have to.

I think you are a fair chap Barney so I will be interested to hear your take on it...do try and stick it out to the third instalment because it is in this instalment that I hope you will see that there is some truth in what they say.

I’m ready to get shot down if you disagree. :)

My fate lies in Barney’s hands Stephen but they’ll be plenty on this forum who will be scrambling to get the first shot in if he continues his present stance.

You must be devastated. I presume you were hoping it would all be true. That's what is normally expected of a documentary. Maybe we should assume this is more like "The Crown"‽

Yes I know I haven't watched it and have no plan to. For one thing I don't have a Netfllix subscription and this drama series is not an incentive to get one. But I have read a lot of reviews and positive ones are as rare as hen's teeth. But it was your own assessment that it contained "some" truth that showed even their biggest supporter is not 100% convinced. But hey ho, your views are honestly held and the therapy will kick in eventually! I reckon your knighthood might be delayed though. :-)

Sorry mate, but I could only get about thirty minutes in before I lost interest, so I’m unable to do a review.
I certainly can’t be bothered with the follow ups.
From what I saw, his main complaint was about foreign paparazzi.

Hi Barney, you could have skipped through to the third instalment as this instalment gave more of an insight as to why I won’t be taking Sir Merv’s advice in seeking therapy. :)

Right, I did it !
Conclusion
A young couple very much in love.
She - smart and ambitious
He - a bit slow but a trier
They have a huge problem with paparazzi, mainly foreign.
Nearly every clip wasn’t from the U.K.

The U.K., including you, is racist.

They wanted out of the job, so they got out.
Now please, just fade away and stop trading on the name of something that you obviously despise.

According to The Telegraph they've been pretty well slated by Press from around the world. They're not doing themselves any favours by their contrived accusations.
Why don't they renounce their titles and retire to the privacy they said they were seeking.

Re: Barney's post to Onelife

Thank you for taking the time to give your opinion which I think is pretty fair.

There will many who disagree with you as to whether the Uk is racist but as I have always maintained, there is a racist in all of us given the right set of circumstances.

As for fading away I have no intention of curtailing my views and opinions about the way Harry and Meghan have been vilified by the media, and I certainly won’t stop expressing my views about the outdated institution which is the Monarchy.

As with all posters, if you express a view and that view is countered with a different view point then do you fade away, no of course you don’t, as demonstrated with your views about the Labour party.

Be careful what you wish for Barney because I’ve witnessed many forum members fade away after not been given a platform on which to express their views.

Because he was born into the Royal institution and therefore attains the titles that are hereditary…there is no reason whatsoever why he should relinquish his title of Prince.
I rather suspect that he wants his and that of his wife’s names to be cleared of some of the accusations that have be cast against them, before retiring on the fortune that the press has inadvertently afforded them.

Of course, I understand that this glossy programme was 100% about their perception of things.
In quite a few things that came up, particularly about the paps, it was either in the states or europe.
As Her Majesty once said, recollections may vary.
I’d agree that there is no doubt that they were hunted by the media.
For that reason alone, it’s probably best for their own mental health that they take a step back.
It can’t possibly end well for them.
As someone much brighter than me once said, you can’t buck the system.
There can only be one winner, and it won’t be them.

Indeed, it was and if you think about it this is precisely where all the hatred in the UK media started. Meghan’s father, and half sister have a lot to answer for. They have categorically been proven to be liars, her father admitted to telling lies and as for Meghan’s half-sister Samantha….

“In an investigation spanning months, BuzzFeed News found evidence that for the past four years, Samantha has apparently used various Twitter accounts — including her current one, which she apparently used to communicate with this reporter — not just to criticize Meghan but to also propagate and give credibility to damaging and potentially defamatory claims about her half-sister.
There is also evidence that suggests Samantha has for years been coordinating with and feeding information to the person behind one of the oldest and most influential anti-Meghan YouTube accounts, a woman who has been a driving force behind what is perhaps the most persistent, insidious, and damaging conspiracy theories about Meghan: that she faked her two pregnancies, that her children were born to a surrogate, and that her children might not even be hers”.

Never heard or seen those before but maybe her version of the truth similar to that of M&H - Harry never went for bike rides with his father? They were married three days before the official wedding? Meghan was deprived of her passport? Harry was forced to walk behind his mother's coffin?

And that ridiculous curtsey she treated us all to. Totally disrespectful to the Queen and the British people.

Just explain to me if the problem is a deceitful sister and aggressive Paps in the US and Europe (which I understood to mean mainland Europe as opposed to the UK)

1. How does it make sense to escape to the US?

And

2. Why was the Oprah Winfrey interview devoted almost entirely to attacking his family?

Is it any surprise we struggle to understand their motives?

I hadn’t seen the curtsey but agree with you that her theatrical curtsey would have been more appropriate left to a Broadway stage.

Foxy, I’m not saying Harry hasn’t got a selective memory with some of the events in his life but Charles has never come across to me as a doting father, this may or not explain his selective memory.

One can only speculate as to whether or not Willian or Harry wanted to be put on show walking behind their mother’s coffin. It was for me the saddest part of the day and something that would have scared most kids of that age…but hey’ stiff upper lip and all that.

As for the rescheduled wedding arrangements I was under the impression that it was more of a precious moment between themselves where they committed themselves to each other with vows of love, and not an official tying of the knot…. not sure if I read that our it’s just my happy fairy-tale imagination running away with me.

Hi Sir Merv…in answer to you question I would suggest what started in the USA and was seized upon by the USA media gave rise to the frenzy of abuse perpetrated by the Firm and distributed through the UK media.

As to their motives perhaps next week Netflix instalment might give us a better insight as to why?

No, it isn’t a surprise as we are all influenced by what we read in the papers, but thank gawd we haven’t got so far drawn in that we can’t have differing views of our own.
