Christmas Deliveries

Unread post by CaroleF »

Has anyone else been having problems with Christmas deliveries? I suppose it's inevitable especially with the Royal Mail strike, although I had a parcel delivered this morning when thought it was a strike day. When I queried it the postman said, 'Some of us like to work.' Mind you I did get a Christmas card from him yesterday - a hint presumably. It was an Evri delivery that's had me annoyed. I was expecting a delivery and kept receiving updates as to the time. I was in all the time. Then I received an email saying my parcel had been put through my letterbox with a picture of the letterbox with the parcel half way through it. The package was thin enough to go through the letterbox. The trouble was it wasn't my letterbox! The colour of the door wasn't my door. The next morning I had another Evri delivery from my usual driver, he's always very friendly and efficient and he wasn't working the previous day. I told him what had happened and showed him the email with the picture and he knew exactly which house it was by the colour of the door - it was about three door away from me. He tried to contact the householder but they weren't in. I said not to worry I would go round later. He's always making sure am I ok since he knows I'm on my own. Sure enough about half an hour later the householder brought it round for me.

So I'd already reported to Evri that I hadn't received the parcel and they instituted an Enquiry. When I'd received the package I sent another email telling them what had happened, it had been put through the wrong door and I now had received it from the householder. Yesterday I got an email from Evri as an answer to the enquiry saying that they were very busy and packages were taking longer than normal and hopefully I would receive the parcel soon! I'd already told them I had it and what had happened. So I replied and said that if they'd read my previous communication they would know that I had received the parcel and it had been wrongly delivered. This morning I've had another email which says the local team is trying to answer my query and will be in touch soon! I give up!

I have had constant problems with Evri, the name change from Hermes solved nothing, they still offer a very poor service.

It clearly depends on the courier, because we receive excellent service from Evri.

Same here. Our courier is great so it does seem to depend on who you get doing the deliveries.

We’ve had numerous problems with parcel deliveries, some of which have not arrived when they say they have and others where the drivers have just dumped parcels intended for a different address to ours. We have on several occasions phoned to say the parcel received is not for our address. On one occasion they asked us to deliver the parcel as it was intended for an address in the village. We got so fed up with making phone calls that we now put any parcels (only one this last six months) on a shelve in our kitchen for two weeks then if it hasn’t been claimed we keep it…. the last one was a bottle of Cragganmore whisky. :D

May be part of the problem.. Mrs B had to admonish our evri chappy earlier this year for consistently leaving parcels on front door step and not in the safe place. After his 'retraining' talk with the good lady, he is now a very pleasant young man and if we are not in will go to the back garden to the safe place.
Don't worry, be happy

This is the problem with forum members theses days, they need to start thinking more laterally and send them on to someone they don’t like…. yours should arrive tomorrow, Enjoy! :D
