Just cold and frosty here in lovely Shropshire but still relying on candles to keep warm. Our log burner has developed a leak which set off the fire alarm a few days ago so I’ve got a new one on order for Thursday… with a fitter on standby for whenever he can fit us in…in the meantime blankets, gloves and water bottles would be appreciated, please forward the usual address, thank you.
Fire alarm or log burner.

Don't let John know you've gone over to the dark side as a log burner owner :)

When you live out in the sticks with no other forms of heating we can afford we don’t have much option but to chop down a few protected trees to keep us warm. :o :)

Currently at East Mids airport where it is cold and foggy but dry and operating. Glad not to be at a London airport today.

Off to your bolt hole in Madeira for Christmas Merv?

The only valuable I'd be after is the key to Mervs Whiskey cabinet.

No snow up here, just frost. Doesn't look as though there's any on the fell tops either. You lot down south have got it all.

It’s been very localised down here.
We had nothing but a light dusting while a few miles away, they had four or five inches.
It seemed to be the higher areas.
The kids in Kent have had loads.

If it is then we haven’t seen it apart from a few flakes early Sunday morning

Stephen, as you are only 30 miles from Stanstead I assumed you may have had some.

Nope.

We often miss any severe weather or are just on the edge of it. Maybe it’s because we are on an estuary.

Apologies if you’ve all been out a bought snow shovels due to my weather forecasting advice…I was mistakenly looking at a snow chart preceding the 1947 snow fall.

I've already filled mine in. Snowfall is decidedly lacking in Funchal.

It is indeed very pleasant. A little windy at the moment but a lot warmer than Leek.

We went there yesterday for lunch. Closes next month for a major 2 year redevelopment so fingers crossed the staff who've been there for the 20 years we've been going return when it's done. I guess it depends whether the current owners can afford the new rent!

We have snow. We'll, a very fine dusting which fell late afternoon. A mile or so away they have had a bit more, we must have been just on the edge.
