Re: Football 22/23
May I ask the opinion of our resident footballing experts about their thoughts on whether Harry Kane should have been awarded a penalty for what appeared to me to be an obvious penalty.in the first quarter of the game.

Agreed, although I think it was VAR that gave us the first penalty, the second the referee gave, and it was not overturned by VAR.Manoverboard wrote: 11 Dec 2022, 10:56I thought the French were a better side than our lads, they had vulnerabilities at the back but we failed to exploit them. I also thought that the ref was very good, he was very experienced and didn't fall for the diving antics by Saka nor Kane, VAR got us the second penalty so no complaints there either.
Basically we were second best but that's how it is.

It was, I thought, outside the box but in any event Harry was looking for it and was part way down in anticipation ... so it wasn't a pen for meOnelife wrote: 11 Dec 2022, 11:22May I ask the opinion of our resident footballing experts about their thoughts on whether Harry Kane should have been awarded a penalty for what appeared to me to be an obvious penalty.in the first quarter of the game.

I also agree with you about the 1st half Harry Kane penalty claim, if it was a foul it was just outside the box so nothing for VAR to amend.

Re: Football 22/23
It should have been a free kick just outside the area. If you stick your foot between the running players legs you can't help but bring them down.
As for Saka being brought down prior to their goal he went down too easily.
If England are going to play walking football as we saw in the first half I may get my boots out again.

Thank you, Mob/John….my thought for what it is worth is that it was inconclusive as to where the foul took place but it was a foul nevertheless so should have been awarded as such.
And I thought you two were experts
I’ve just read the reason for Raheem Sterling departure was a result of his house being burgled.

Reports say £30k worth of watches were stolen.
Why would anyone want watches costing that amount when cheaper watches do the same job at a fraction of the cost?

My watch is a £30 Accurist, it keeps perfect time, shows me the date and only needs a new battery every 2 or 3 years, why would I want anything more expensive.oldbluefox wrote: 11 Dec 2022, 13:47Reports say £30k worth of watches were stolen.

Re: Football 22/23
I like watches.
I have a collection of watches
I have Rolex, Omega, Tag, and four others.
I wear the Tag, which I’ve had for over twenty years as my day watch and the others on occasions.
I always wear the Omega to meetings. Part of my ritual.
Lots of people have collections of different things.
Mine is watches.
My younger brother spends a fortune on golf and golf things and thinks I’M weird

The only watch that matters in football is the referee's.
Despite what some of you lot say I still think England were very unfortunate in losing yesterday's match. The French got away with one there.

Were they there Rishi and Boris? They must have been the incompetent referee and his dubious linesman.

The passing by the French was slick and controlled by comparison we had to think about it and the passes were slower and and obvious.

That doesn't me want they were better than us because they weren't.

Bensham….I think it was a far better performance than what England had played in previous games and while France may just have had the edge there wasn’t a lot in it as far as I am concerned.Bensham33 wrote: 12 Dec 2022, 14:06That doesn't me want they were better than us because they weren't.

We’ve literally hit rock bottom.
Thankfully a new owner and hopefully a new manager to follow.
Negative Nil Harris has to go.

Bring on Gillingham. We might stand a chance of beating them but I wouldn't bank on it judging by today's performance.

Well my team produced a Xmas miracle, and came from behind for the first time this season, to win. But we are still bottom.
