What a final…four worthy winners in my book.
Well done whoever wins… I can’t call it.

I agree with you about Hamza even though he was my pick for the winner 10 weeks agodavid63 wrote: 17 Dec 2022, 21:50Not disparaging Hamza but he was not the best "dancer" tonight - lovely man that he is.
Interestingly I read before the series started that Fleur was tipped to be the winner with Helen as runner up - and that is how the judges marked them.
There has to be a change with the way the voting is done and somehow make it based on dancing and not popularity.

You cannot do that and still have inexperienced public voters making the final decision. You could maybe continue with the 50/50 judges and public votes, but I guess even then the most popular with the public would still top the vote, whether he/she/they could dance or not. Very rarely the best dancer is also the most popular with the public as well, like Abby Clancy and Alesha Dixon, but recently that's not happened.david63 wrote: 17 Dec 2022, 21:50Not disparaging Hamza but he was not the best "dancer" tonight - lovely man that he is.

If that’s all you’re going to offer her, you better send her round to meMervyn and Trish wrote: 18 Dec 2022, 09:09That's my licence fee you're talking about there! I'm happy with Blue Peter getting the contract to knock up the trophy.
Meanwhile I guess I'll have to invite Helen for a coffee to offer her consolation after she was robbed.

I think you've touched on it there. In It's current format it's always been an entertainment show and the idea we can put two fingers up at the judges and choose someone else is part.of the appeal. As for running out of competitors I doubt that's going to happen anytime soon.CaroleF wrote: 18 Dec 2022, 10:20I suppose it's either an entertainment programme which involves the public in the voting or it's a dancing competition, judged solely by professionals - as the very old "Come Dancing" used to be - if anyone else but me is old enough to remember. It seemed to me that the judges really didn't want Hamza to win, or rather that they wanted Fleur. I didn't really have a favourite but as last night's programme went on I decided that I'd like Hamza to win and I did think that he had a chance with the public voting and that's what happened. It still took me ages this series to sort out who was who as I'd hardly heard of any of them previously. Maybe the series will eventually end because the BBC can't find enough 'Celebrities' willing to take part.

I’ve remained faithful to my wife for over 38 years but I can still fantasise about more than a cup of coffeeMervyn and Trish wrote: 18 Dec 2022, 10:32At my age it's my best offer. I hope you're not planning to chest on Megs?

It may do unless they up the fee. For the amount of time that they have to put in £25k may not be worth it for someMervyn and Trish wrote: 18 Dec 2022, 10:36As for running out of competitors I doubt that's going to happen anytime soon.

Yes but that's just to appear. It goes up the longer they stay, reportedly to £100k for the winner. Then a lot more if they do the tour. Plus it can revive a flagging career. Even for someone like Helen who is not short of work anyway they reckon she'll pick up an extra £1m over the next year. I'd do it for that!david63 wrote: 18 Dec 2022, 11:06It may do unless they up the fee. As I understand it they only get a fixed fee, irrespective of how long they stay - although I would agree that there may be some "spin offs"
