Hi Foxy, as one who always listens to your take on things, I decided to take a look at his speech to see if I could find anything political in it, I couldn’t, what I found was a patronising load of codswallop about me, me, me, and the insincerity of thinking he was best placed in echoing what the public are going through…no wonder the younger generations are turning their backs on these wealthy freeloaders.  :D

In racing terms, once the filly had been broken in, and produced his progeny, the brood mare had no other purpose in the stables and was discarded like a piece of horse sh*t in order that the donkey (Charlie) could continue banging the old nag (slack knicker) who lived down the lane. It then came to pass that having sustained life changing injuries the filly started to regain her form again and was admired around the world for her courage in being able to pick herself up from having been used by unscrupulous breeders. There were but a few who begrudged her the happiness of frolicking in the paddocks with a few stallions trying to find one with a better pedigree than the donkey she had left behind. Sadly, it wasn’t to be but her name will never be forgot in the racing hall of fame, and that of the hearts of people who will for ever know this filly as the “Queen of Hearts”

Wimp.

I do think OL and Harry are right in one aspect of the comparison between Diana and Meme.

Both were attractive young women who had a naive and inaccurate impression of what life would be like in the Royal family.

And both were unfortunate to get engaged to members of that family who were too interested in getting their leg over and too cowardly to tell them how wrong they were before it was too late.

Having read a few posts on this forum I though Charlie was opting for a cut price Coronation but it now seems me-me has decided he wants his Coronation to be used as a UK plc promotion…I can’t see how he, along with ---- parading along the mall with all the pomp and ceremony is going to do much for the UK other than waste the UK tax payers another shed load of money. Charlie and his groupies clearly don’t understand that the Great has long gone out of the UK and will never return to what some would wish it to be. We are now such a diverse country that there is no specific UK Identity, with many ethnic groups choosing to follow their own cultural, religious identities in preference to that of pledging allegiance to King and country. We need to start coming to terms with this and move with the times and not hanker after what will never be again. Yes, UK can be Great again but it won’t have anything to do with me-me Charlie being crowned or him coming out and making patronising speeches that “he understands what the country is going through”.

It is his hereditary parliamentary institution that promotes and encourages the divisions between those who have and those who don’t in this country and if we are to move forward, we need to find a new parliamentary system that represents and reflects how the UK can move forward together, imo.

I guess we should expect nothing less from a republican than a misunderstanding of what the great in Great Britain really means. So any views he has of a replacement system for our envied hereditary monarchy are likely to be equally suspect.

To be clear OL I thought Diana was wonderful. It's very clear from your postings you dislike Charles and Camilla and blame them for what happened to her. Many years ago I would have agreed with you but over time I have learned much and have a far greater understanding of what actually happened.

I now see them as victims too and really can't agree with you in hindsight. Charles was always in love with Camilla and would have married her if not prevented from doing so by the wider establishment, in which I include the Monarchy, the Government, the Civil Service, the Church ,the Press and Public Opinion. They were all still remembering what happened to Edward and Mrs Simpson and fearing it would happen again.

Diana as I said in a previous post was as naive as Meghan was. When they gave the interview in which Charles was asked were they in love and he answered "whatever that is" she should have packed her packs and fled. He was never in love with her but was doing his duty as forced on him.

I cannot condemn him for that now.

As for the cost of the Monarchy I think you'll find the country is a net beneficiary in terms of employment, preservation of historic buildings, tourism etc. On the last alone the Coronation will more than pay for itself.

Because Screwy, I love my Country, and because I along with many others have witnessed how it has declined over the past 60+ or so year. There are those like myself who see it as time to move away from the past and look to how our country can embrace its diversity and the opportunities it creates…having a Monarchy that represents nothing but hereditary privilege and out-dated links to the past isn’t conducive to an inclusive and forward-thinking country. The reluctance to move away from its reliance of a political system that implodes in on its self because of its party political in-fighting, fighting which without change will take this country further into decline. There needs to be, in my opinion, far reaching political changes in this country in order that we can create a better future for those to come, and the first step to this is to get rid of Charlie and the rest of the freeloaders who hold this country back. imo.

Hi Sir Merv, yes’, I do blame Charlie and slack knicker but also the institution that put Charlie in the position where he was required to trick a naive young girl into a marriage of convenience. If reports are correct, she (Diana) did question whether she should go through with the marriage but one can only presume she was told that to back out would not fit with Royal protocol so naively went through with it.

I do assume you know what the term Great Britain refers to but just in case you really dont, then below is the official geographical terminology from ordinance survey UK.

Great Britain is the official collective name of England, Scotland and Wales and their associated islands. It does not include Northern Ireland and therefore should never be used interchangeably with ‘UK’ – something you see all too often.

However as I thought you were leaving this thread and topic and heading for the hills, there is really no need for you to break your vow of silence and respond.

Not very nice is it barney? Mind you it wasn't very nice of Diana calling her step mother "Acid Raine". I don't think Diana was as saintly as some would like us to think.
It's a case of 'He said....she said' and we will never know what really went on between Charles and Diana. I don't believe either was innocent but equally I think it's wrong to lay all the blame at Camilla's door.
As OL says it's time to move on and leave the past behind.
