Where's me masks? Good job I didn't through them out.
I’ve been wearing my mask on my last two visits into Ludlow…I know what the people are thinking but I don’t care....You're a long time dead.

There's a story on line about our local acute hospital that illustrates what they're up against. Already very busy with ambulances queuing. Widely reported iin local media. Woman turns up with ear wax. Not surprisingly gets more than wax in her ear from furious staff.

That only goes to prove a small percentage of the population have nothing but ear wax and cotton wool between their ears

I think they test by standing the patient against a wall and shining a light in one ear. If they can see the light on the wall they know what the problem is.

Another story has appeared about the gridlock here and it has provoked a flurry of Tories out comments. Ignoring the fact that it was the last Labour government that cut 20% od the beds from the plans when the hospital was rebuilt while promising new community services that never happened.

So Covid continues to be one of the factors causing problems in the NHS. China has taken the brakes off and Covid is running riot there. Visitors from China will be tested. But will not be required to isolate. They will instead be free to spread the virus including potentially new variations. Can anyone see the sense in that?
Allegedly it's to 'monitor variants'.

But it makes no sense at all to me, as the next threat is most likely to come from the other direction.

The variant XBB.1.5, very highly transmissible, has been taking off in the New York area

A lot of people think that one is going to be our next problem

It has certainly been one of the big moans for Norfolk. Our old city center hospital was relocated to a smaller Hospital outside of the city funded by PFI, and has been paying for it since. 27 ambulances waiting to discharge not uncommon.
Queen Elizabeth hospital in Kings Lynn has a roof with a design life of 30 years, with the 42 years of service so far, the roof slabs are starting to crack and now require 3400 acrow props through out the hospital to hold it up. At this time is currently awaiting a decision to rebuild. The Hospital is hoping it will be them that will be picked from 6 or 8 other hospitals competing for the same thing.

Hi Gill. Nice to see you back posting again

I think our present problem is this new flu variant which according to my sister’s doctor is worse than covid. My sister and Bil have been oh so poorly with it. He’s two weeks in and still feeling lousy.

I take your point about our next overseas threat but I feel we will react as we did with the last one and leave taking precautions till it’s too late.

Like I said earlier I’m already wearing my face mask which is a shame considering how dam good looking I am

P M Mr Rishi Sunak promised to make laws that those arriving illegally to our shores will be quickly processed and removed from our country, otherwise he will be made accountable. This has been promised for a while, so when and how quickly will these laws start to go through Parliament, the clock is already ticking as this year's numbers have started to grow.

I’ve got another suggestion for Rishi, instead of having to go through a load of illegal immigration procedures perhaps a better option would be to redeploy the Higgins boats used in the Normandy landings. This way we could do a mid-sea rescue then return them using a safer mode of transport, all without the need for paperwork.

Sadly you've no chance OL. Labour are convinced they'll win the next election easily so they won't be promising any constitutional changes. And if by a miracle the Tories get back they'll have bigger fish to fry.

There's more chance of King Charles abdicating in favour of Harry.

I’m always willing to compromise, so if Charles wants to do the country a favour and use his Royal prerogative to skip William in favour of Harry then I’m willing to wear my OBE again. :shifty:

On a more serious note, I’m starting to think, even with the Labour party’s dead wood a change may be the right thing for our country?

Is this the same Harry who was reported days ago as saying he wanted his brother and father back?

Whatever happened in the past we still only have H&Ms version. The Royal Family have not commented. But at every opportunity H&M attack his family in interviews and now this book. Does he think that is the route to reconciliation?

He sounds like a nasty piece of work does that William, it’s not the first time that he has been reported to have had uncontrolled outbursts.
It sounds as if Harry was calm under pressure rather than following his brothers throwing the teddy antics.

They don’t comment because the truth could be very damaging. And lets face it, they are experts when it comes to gagging orders being issued.

I think you misread the report…I can’t be absolutely sure but I think it said Harry wanted to see the BACK of them?

So siblings do not fall out and argue with one another? Nothing to report here.

Why is it that with everything these days some/all the information is "leaked"? Oh yes I know - it is publicity!

Just read that they need to sell 1.7 million copies to break even on this book - I know someone who will not be buying one

I’m presuming when referring to “they” you mean Penguin books, unless there is some contractual clause where Harry and lovely Meghan’s cut is subject to copies sold…which I doubt?
