At our GP practice people are being told they can only be put on a triage list if it's an emergency. You can't make a routine appointment. We used to be able to fill in a form on line but that's been taken down. You can only fill in a form in person for that day. If people go in to the surgery in the late afternoon they are not allowed to fill in a form for the next day. They are told the list is full and they need to go in at 8am the next day. No wonder people are going to A&E. The only way some people are getting an appointment is to call 111 and then if the doctor they speak to thinks they need a GP appointment or a Nurse appointment they will sort it. I agree it's the GP system that needs enlarging but I don't think that until all the political parties agree that they need to forget politics and get a group of medically qualified doctors and nurses to suggest what needs doing that anything will happen. Reminds me of the time in the 60s when the hospital I worked at had a Medical Superintendent (a doctor) and a Matron - just one Matron in charge of the all the nurses - not one of the modern ones who seem to be in charge of a couple of wards. Funnily enough it seemed to work when nurses learned on the job and in the lecture room. Oh yes, and there was discipline. Sorry I'm sounding rather old fashioned.

Carole, some good points and maybe you are not far out. Some old fashion values may be the way to go and easing up on some silly 'PC' rules as well.

Good to see the south west and us in the east(Norfolk) getting a few crumbs from the leveling up table. £22m each to KL in the west and Grt Y in the east. We normally get overlooked to keep the North quiet.
We've got £17m for our little town in the North Southlands

Dorset will get a few extra bogs along the sea front for the grockles plus some social housing and a mall in Weymouth but not a diddley squat for the rural areas as far as I can tell.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Whilst Shropshire town has been awarded 18m the only levelling up our rural areas will see is a bit of tarmac thrown into the many potholes we have, pothole that have buggerd up my car suspension twice this past two years.

That being said I’m pleased that some of the less well-off areas will see some bennift from these handouts.

I personally would like to see more of the money going to our rundown seaside resorts.

Hi Ray,

Your posts are always my first to go to reads after logging in as they are always so informative   however, on this occasion I was engrossed perfecting my rib stitch for the new pair of mittens I’m knitting…. please don’t tell the others I’ve said that.

That’s good news Ray especially with times as they are…nothing like an old bucket and spade holiday…had a few on the East Coast, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft.

With the increase in pressure for Germany to send tanks to Ukraine, it puts them in a bit of a dilemma, having signed a treaty for a limited military in the county, they prefer to seek an end to hostility rather than supplying killing machines.
The last thing they want is to p Russia off. At the same time, they have signed up to the club to defend freedom in Europe.
The memories of what Operation Barbarossa did in Russia are still deeply felt. They know that, but with pressure to help Ukraine, they know that puts them in the cross hairs if it all goes tits up.

I thought I would do the right thing and inform the travel insurance company about my recent angina diagnosis, the response nearly gave me a bloody heart attack.! How the hell can you afford to travel with an increase in premium of £700.🤬🤬

Fourteen tanks for Ukraine costing hundreds of million of pounds yet we can’t pay our NHS a decent wage.

Priorities wrong me thinks.

If you can cancel or you haven’t taken out the policy yet screwy try LV (Liverpool Victoria).

I’ve been chasing travel insurance companies, and like you some of the quotes have been high. But having disclosed my medical conditions with LV online I was pleasantly surprised at the returned quote.

Screwy when you get above 70yrs you become a cash making machine for insurance. I put high BP on the form and it must have sent it skyrocketing. Take any cruise ship, what would be the sum total of all insured against any claims made. The insurance companies are milking us for all the can get.

And you don’t need to be 70+ Ray.
Like everything, policies have rocketed compared to last year.

I totally agree about LV - although my policy has gone up 10% this year (and no doubt so have all the others)

Blimey. We pay a total of £460 supplement to cover both of us being over 70 (that's £75 each) and the other £310 covers Trish for asthma and osteoporosis and me having had major heart and aorta surgery and treatment for prostate cancer. And that's on a worldwide annual policy.

You should ask Stephen for a Compo form (or if he charges too much I am still in touch with Cubie and can get you some wholesale!)

Send the tanks to A&E to clear out the timewasters and drunks. Win win.

Agree David, but in comparison to last years price and current quotes I was well happy with LV.

Hopefully I won’t need to test it as that’s when you truly find out how good they really are.

Good to know most of these insurance companies including LV say they cover ALL medical conditions. Did you not query it screwy with LV.

No I didn’t Stephen. I had already paid staysure the extra.

We have 2 cruises booked this year and 2 next, not sure wether the insurance cost is going to be worth doing next years. I don’t really want to be stuck in the UK for holidays though.😡
