When you can earn more as a window cleaner than as a doctor there is something wrong.
After so much time spent in training, time when they are not earning it seems reasonable they should expect reasonable remuneration. The government should not be using emotional blackmail as an excuse not to negotiate.

It would seem to me that a flat rate settlement might be more appropriate. 35% might be appropriate at the bottom end, as low as £30k after years of training, but at the high end of £60k to £80k after just 5 years more, it's less palatable. How about £10k across the board?

I think you are on the right lines Sir Merv and if acceptable their must be a move by the Government to honour future IPRB recommendations, while accepting there is a balance to be had in all negotiations.

I suspect that the doctors know that they won't get 35% they are just using that figure to start negotiations trouble is the Health Minister doesn't seem to know how to negotiate. I always thought that one side began with an unrealistic figure say 35% and the other side begin with a much lower figure, say 5% and you settle for something in the middle. They have got to start talking and it's the governments responsibility to open those talks otherwise this dispute will go on and on.

If the govt, any govt, negotiated public sector pay in that way the country would have permanent inflation and even higher taxes than we have now. Surely that's why the independent pay review boards were set up in the first place.

Hi Poole boy….I take your point although i think most have heard and care about the Green Party but don’t see them as a political option…they may be but little acorns in the political field but their influence is growing especially where environmental political decision making is concerned.

Although I do have sympathy with the Doctors,I know the conditions for junior doctors are bad,they do not do themselves any favours by jumping up and down,singing daft songs and having some BMA balloon gobbing off into a megaphone stirring them into a frenzy.

And on the news this morning it was saying that some of the junior doctors were on official holiday and so were being paid by the NHS to be on the picket line. If it was me I would cancel their holiday and have them back at work.

Must be worth another couple of million from Netflix for Whingealong Part 2. Considering he wanted to be out of the public eye he seems to be determined to court it at every opportunity.

I prefer to think of it as good parenting…their children look so happy which Meg’s must take a lot of credit for.

When you consider the vitriolic attacks both Meg’s and Harry have been subjected to I would have thought he could have found something better to do than go to this pantomime…then again with tax payers footing the bill for flights etc, then I don't blame him going and steeling the limelight.
