In my case it's not I don't want to know. I do know the facts and keep up to date with them and make my own informed decisions.

What I don't want to do is condemn myself to zero social life on the basis of something that is now killing fewer peopke than cancer and heart disease (having survived both of those) and even a moderate flu season. And I also don't need anyone banging on about it as if they are the only ones with the ability to make a reasoned judgement.

I really find it strange that people say we ‘have to live with it’ and yet they prefer to know nothing about it.

To my mind, living with something means understanding it and keeping up to date with it

But I get that it’s easier and more comfortable to not look too closely.

I won’t say anymore, as I can see that people don’t want to know. Just hope that you don’t get too many surprises further on down the road.

I am over 75 Gill so I get booster jabs every 6 months, I happen to believe that vaccination provides far more protection than any preventative measures I take.
However I feel my general personal hygeine regime does provide me with a reasonable degree of protection. Beyond that I trust our health service and pharmaceutical companies to ensure that the vaccines they provide will maximise the protection against most current mutations, so I don't need to understand or keep up to date with anything, other than when my next booster shot is needed.

Who said anything about having zero social life or even making reasoned judgements?

Also, not sure why the only measurement is ‘death’. Things have moved on, which was the theme of what I have said today.

Whilst it is accepted that many over 75’s fall into the more vulnerable groups it could also be said that the six-monthly vaccination’s gives this group a big advantage on those who fall below this cut off point. I for one would be far less risk aversive if at 69 years of age I qualified for the six-monthly vaccination allocation.
I for one still avoid crowded places, gel my hands after visits to petrol stations… and kick a*se if anyone invades my personal space uninvited.

I mentioned death figures for the benefit of Towny, who seemed to think that Covid was 'over'. But I immediately moved on, because it has become apparent that COVID has many other impacts, apart from 'death'. But nobody wants to talk about it, which is far enough - in the wider world nobody wants to talk about it either!

As you know, we are all allowed to say what we want, as long as we stay within the forum rules. I made no assumption about what you are 'permitted' to say - but, we are allowed to comment on what other forum members say. As nothing had been said about 'restrictions', I thought your remark about a zero social life was a bit of a non-sequitur, so I made a comment.

Funnily enough cancer and heart disease have impacts other than death too, many far more serious and for far more people than Covid. There you go. I talked about it.
