Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms. These include 19 State rooms, 52 Royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms.
Plus 400 staff for its up keep…I don’t want to sound like a cheapskate but isn’t this an abuse of office…space and resources?

Hi Screwy, your memory serves you well. There are two chippies in Craven Arms, one as you say is on the A49 as you head out towards Shrewsbury, the other, which we use is on a side road off the island opposite Tufin’s.

We don’t use fish n chips shops that often we feel they have got very expensive e.g., Cod and chips will set you back £8.50… for that price I’ll settle for scrambled eggs on toast…we’ve got a load of eggs… you may have heard

The problem with all situations like this is that they all belong to the “old boys’ network” a club where they know there are no real consequence for their actions…a quick rap on the knuckles (you naughty boys) seems to be the only deterrent, only then to be let lose to carry on where they left off.
Our political system is in tatters and the only way you will take out this rot is to change the system (if only to give the outgoing system a chance to cleanse itself).

But hey! It appears that most, especially on this forum, think it will get better by itself, it won’t, its terminal.

A Republic where the choice for the next President, who has real power, looks likely to be between a geriatric and a narcisist who incited a riot rather than accept defeat last time.

I agree with Merv, you don't ditch an old system until you have something that is seen as much better by a majority of the population, and so far all your suggestions have failed on all aspects.

Hi Sir Merv, therein lies the problem, you along with a fair proportion of the UK see America as a bad example of Republicanism, whereas I see the UK as a very different candidate for republicanism….is it not beyond the realms of possibility that we as an island could draw upon the mistakes which have given people this perception? Are we blinded to think there couldn’t be a different and hopefully a better way forward?

With a well thought out constitution and willingness to take a different political path our country could lead by example again… representing a very diverse country both in its cultures and its ethnicity… we can no longer keep holding onto our historical past (Monarchy) when a vast proportion of our multicultural population chose their own historical heritages over that of the one which is way past its sell by date…Its time to move forward and stop living in the past….get rid of the Monarchy and then we can move forward with some degree of optimism, one that represents us all in a nation that represents the future not the past.

The interviewer asked a simple question.
The nearest English speaking republic to us is Ireland.
Can you name the president of Ireland?
She didn’t have a clue but could name the president of France.
So, you’d like someone like Macron to be head of state?
Err, no !
Someone better and more popular?
Yeah!
How about the King?
Err, no, because I’m a republican!
Couldn’t make it up, could you ?
