What a super day....
Dear Forumeers,
Why can't all bank holidays be like today? A little bit of sun makes a lot of difference.
Up at 7.30 I was gardening by 8am. The lawns have been mown, the patio furniture cleaned, many weeds have been dug up and the greenhouse is full of bedding plants and hanging baskets.
The Admirals face and shoulders are glowing slightly, the first of possibly four bottles of Spitfire ale has been consumed. I am back at work in the morning but at this moment in time I care precisely not one jot.
Good evening to you all.
Regards
Rob aka AOTH

We are retired and have enjoyed some good weather the last few days and my goodness doesn't it make you feel so much better. Let's just hope that this summer doesn't turn out like last summer, I don't think I could bear another one like that.

No problem Moby,
You have earned your retirement having lived through the Great Plague, The depression, a couple of world wars and rickets. I am on Spitfire number three so even the thought of work in the morning has a happy glow.

It's been glorious. We had a BBQ, walked over the cliffs behind our house, ate an ice cream walking back and pottered in the garden. It was positively scorching hot on the deck and by 5pm I had to come inside to cool off. And more of the same forecast for tomorrow.

Re: What a super day....
The weather this week end has been fantastic in the sunny Costa Del Clacton on Sea, the hottest its been so far this year.
Yesterday after doing a bit of gardening, I took some rubbish to the dump, and then took a drive along the sea front. It was heaving, all the car parks were packed solid and all along the sea front, cars were parked bumper to bumper. the visitors were down in there thousands.
Today we took a drive to the Garden centres in Colchester approx 15 miles away, for at least 12 of those miles leading into Clacton, the traffic was horrendous, bumper to bumper, even on the stretch of road which is dual carriageway. No. Accidents just volume of traffic heading to the coast, nearly stretching back as far as Colchester, good job we were going in the opposite direction.
Thankfully when we returned about 3 hours later the road was all clear, mind you would hate to think what it's like tonight heading out of Clacton, between 5pm and 7 pm.
In all the years I have lived in Clacton, even in the height of summer, I have never seen the roads leading to it, so busy.

Andrew's brother and sister-in-law have been staying for the weekend. Today we've been walking in the Shropshire Hills over the Stiperstones. A peaceful, scenic walk with beautiful weather. We're glad we changed our mind about where to go at the last minute - Carding Mill Valley and Church Stretton would have been teeming with people today!

Oh! wonderful day. What a treat. The OH did some model aeroplane building, and pointed up the new patio and I got the sun lounger out and lounged (i did make some soup for a girls' lunch next week) We then had a simple pasta dish outside, and followed it with a strawberry pancake. Of course, we had a little wine too. Now we are watching the Snooker!!!
Tomorrow the OH is going to a funeral and i will be caring for my three year old grandson. I will get the sandbox out. Jay

My alarm went off at the usual - 06.45 to get me on the bus to town for a day in the theatre
Then I remembered the box office does not open on Bank Holidays
It's been a funny ole day - but the weather brilliant, so the lawns have been treated with Evergreen 4 in 1, pricey but very effective
We had an unexpected luncheon on our terrace over looking Poole Bay, normally it is a quick sarnie for my Monday lunch

Re: What a super day....
Saturday is shopping day, so we mooched about, did all the stuff in town and then came home and started some diy, that I have put off for eons.
Sunday we cleaned out the shed and took a load of stuff to the tip, a bit more light DIY and out for a meal with friends
Monday finsihed off some painting and decorating and then buckled down and did all the paperwork for the house move with Lady D, we also did some packing and boxing up of stuff for the move as well, which is off to storage today
Lady D is a superb with paperwork and forms, me, next to usless, but its all done and will be winging it's way to the solicitor and financial advisor today
may not be the most exciting weekend but we need to get all this stuff done for the move
