The draw of the occasion had OL looking in because he wanted to, he definitely did not want to miss it.
You tend to get people who say they do not like something, it ends up they are one of their biggest fans. I'm not naming any names so no one can finger point

What a wonderful momentous occasion, the history going back 1000 years. The Ceremony was spectacular with lots of tradition although the choir was not to everyone's taste, but we have to remember this was very high church led. Glad I witnessed it all.
Don't worry, be happy

OL had clearly heard that Penny was looking absolutely gorgeous in playing a major role. Can't blame him.

Yes, I thought Penny done a great job. Not sure I’d have been able to hold my nerve as well as she did.

Now we know where quite a bit of our ceremony comes fromoldbluefox wrote: 06 May 2023, 14:59I thought the Beeb did a magnificent job in presenting the Coronation. Hosted by the delectable Kirsty Young then Huw Edwards and Clair Balding, they were informative and knowledgeable and struck exactly the right note.
Penny Mordaunt did a magnificent and looked absolutely stunning....phwoar!!!
The pomp and ceremony was outstanding from the military forces.

Hi Ray…. It was less of the case of me looking in, it was more to do with me having to pass through the room where my wife was watching…. what she though was a very expensive case of ritual play acting.Ray B wrote: 06 May 2023, 15:01The draw of the occasion had OL looking in because he wanted to, he definitely did not want to miss it.

Laughing my head off at the absurdity of the whole occasion wasn’t a good combination for my weak bladder.

Re: King Charles lll Coronation
The latest poll I can find says 45% of the population want the Monarchy abolished. That is already a minority. The picture for the republicans becomes even worse if you consider the potential replacement with an elected head of state because those 45% wouldn't agree who it should be.
For simplicity let's assume there were only two candidates, from the left and right of politics. Let's call them Tony and Boris and, again for simplicity, assume they evenly divided the republican vote.
So that means the overall vote is King Charles 55%, President Tony 22.5% and President Boris 22.5%.
So whichever way it went we would end up with a President 77.5% of the population didn't want.
No thanks.

History and ritual is important to many.
The world was watching today and the world was mightily impressed.
I checked BBC, Sky, Euronews, France 24 , CNN and even Aljazera and they were all covering live.
So much for suggestions of disinterest .
Just accept that you are out of step on this issue and you will be happier in life.
This obsession is clearly disturbing you.
Have a G&T and watch the highlights.
It was brilliant

It rained 70 years ago for the Queen's coronation and today I remembered Queen Salote Tupou III of Tonga, a rather large lady, who in spite of the rain insisted on riding in an open carriage and waved enthusiastically to the crowds.
