Re: Current Affairs 2023
So the good news is presumably we can move on now and get over something that happened 2 or 3 years ago.
With which in mind, teenagers dying riding e-bikes. There are two distinct types of e- bikes. Those which are electrically assisted bicycles, whose motor only assists until you reach the sort of speed an ordinary cyclist can achieve. Then there are those which are in effect electric mopeds, that can reach speeds of 45mph plus, require a licence and insurance to drive, cannot be ridden by someone under 16, cannot carry passengers and legally require helmets. Guess what type the innocent victims in both recent cases were riding? Is it any surprise the police were taking an interest? Oh and by the way, they cost upwards of £4k so they didn't buy them with their pocket money did they? I'm sorry for their traffic deaths but it is on one's fault but their own.

Re: Current Affairs 2023
The issue would appear to be with the addition of the word "xxxx" at the end giving the impression that it is a signature, or reference, to somebody else - which is the way that I read it.
One explanation is that it is a typo.
May I suggest to everyone that when posting that you either use the "Preview" option before submitting or after submitting proof read what has been posted and edit the post if it is incorrect.

Those who live by the sword die by the sword. Not sure who said that. Might have been Foxy.
But in simple terms don't dish it out if you can't take it.
Time to move on from cakes, parties and ex PMs etc.
Let's focus on current PMs and those who aspire to be.

It's one last hurrah for the Boris bashers. I quite liked him - absolutely flawed and his own worst enemy but he was totally unpredictable and could survive if he had the right people around him.
I can't blame him for resigning since he will earn millions from selling his memoirs and appearances on the speaking circuit. He sailed close to the wind and eventually it caught up with him. His greatest achievement was in unblocking the Brexit impasse. Hasta la vista..........baby!!

And let's not forget that if the Labour Party (We'll never vote for any deal Theresa May gets), the Lib Dems (We'll take the UK back into the EU) and all the others hadn't worked so hard to block the democratic vote for Brexit, first of all the EU wouldn't have detected a divided adversary across the negotiating table and we would perhaps have got a better deal much quicker (they always thought that if they made it difficult enough we'd change our minds), and Boris would never have been PM in the first place.oldbluefox wrote: 11 Jun 2023, 15:11It's one last hurrah for the Boris bashers. Re: Current Affairs 2023
I am certain we would have got a much better deal from the EU had we not experienced the shenanigans which opposition parties put up to change the outcome of the referendum.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 11 Jun 2023, 15:16

Theresa May fudged the deal, trying to find some middle ground which would appease both sides and ultimately conceded too much to the EU. The EU saw her as weak, isolated her, mocked her and whilst no friend of hers I thought that was cruel and an insult to the UK. They probably thought she would soon be gone and the UK would go back into the EU. Boris came along and was left to salvage what he could from the mess TM and the opposition had created. Soon afterwards Covid came along, then the war in Ukraine. Who knows what he could have done with out those two major global incidents.

But seriously, the existing squad do a fine job in difficult circumstances.

So back to politics. Mrs Krankie says she knows she's innocent. Didn't Boris say the same? Asking for a friend.

As was Dominic Cummings.
They’re all innocent until they get found out.
The list goes on.
