In my mind, any police pursuit chasing someone who draws suspicion will more than likely break speed limits etc in order to catch them. So has the police driver of the van chasing the teenagers in Ely South Wales been thrown to the wolves just to pacify those that went on the rampage. Do the police just sit back and let law breakers carry on getting away for fear they themselves may be facing criminal investigation. It happens every time a pursuit ends with a fatality.
The same is happening in my county. Police pursued a suspect stolen 4x4 along roads, through corn fields, the stolen vehicle exiting the field and and onto the road collided with a car traveling the opposite direction killing the innocent lady driver. The police are under investigation.

I was reading in the news earlier that the rail workers are not happy that due to going on strike they will not receive their productivity bonus this year, which again due to the strikes is down from £1,000 to £300. This is even due to them being told at the outset that striking would affect their bonus.

The union are saying that it is unfair to penalise the strikers!

Hi Ray, we will have to wait and hear the circumstances but what is clear from the video is that the teenagers were breaking the law riding the e-scooter the way they were doing.

There is no doubt to my mind that Wokeism is changing every aspect of our lives and will if we are not carful continue to do so until such time that humour can only be spoken in dark corners…. least we offend.

Birmingham councils bankruptcy should be a siren call to the entire UK population that we have to learn to live within our means, and stop relying on benefits from the govt or local authorities.
Local councils should be concentrating on the mainstream necessities, waste collection, maintaining local roads, social housing, local, transport, and local administration for healthcare and teaching.
We need to be weaned away from relying on benefits to top up incomes, I am not advocating letting the poorest starve, but we need to accept that there are far too many people prepared to take all the benefits they can, and then top up their income from the cash in hand sector.
I recognise there are some countries with more generous welfare systems than ours, but there are a heck of a lot more with far less generous welfare systems, and in these countries people do have to learn how to manage through the rough times, something that is sadly lacking in the UK.
This will also probably result in a major review of current benefits being paid out to those, like me, who dont really need them, but like most others I will continue to accept our winter fuel payments and the orhers until the govt change it for everyone.

There are some significant factors surrounding the Birmingham situstion.

Firstly this has been building for around 10 years due to equal pay compensation payouts - something that is of thier own making. And secondly it is the whole culture of local goverment, especially Labour controlled councils, who adpot the head in the sand approach to finance and spend more on "vanity" projects than they do on what they shoiuld be focussed on.

It is totally incomprehesible to me why a bunch of part time councillors can dictate how much their constituents will have to pay in council tax, which in my opinion is the only tax system that does not have any connection with ability to pay.

What’s happened to this country is that we have a political system not fit for purpose…radical changes are needed if this corrupt political system is ever going to get sorted (even if it is in the short term or until the present system cleans its self-up)

I would start by getting rid of the freeloaders who sit at the top of the pile.
