Unfortunately, Stephen there is no way John would want to live down your way having pasted through lovely Shropshire …. although it has been said that its appeal has somewhat dwindled since I moved here...can’t think why.Stephen wrote: 14 Sep 2023, 16:49Give into temptation John and think how good the old current bun would be for your arthritch..athrytoes……..bones![]()

We moved sarf in part to get away from the Cheshire rain but over the past couple of years our Darzet climate has become much rainier than hithertotowny44 wrote: 14 Sep 2023, 16:12They do have better weather than we have, which is a temptation, but I am a northern boy at heart and don't think I want to rusk a change at my age.

Darzet can't compare to Maldon. Not for mud anyway.

You won't get a better face pack anywhere else.
Now, as it happens I'm doing a nice line in mud packs ready for Christmas. Get your orders in quick to avoid disappointment.

Re: Current Affairs 2023
Here we go again - trial by media.
Several newspapers have done an "investigation" on Russell Brand, not someone that I have any views on one way or the other.
So the papers have found some women who claim that he either raped them or sexually assaulted them - even though he was having a relationship with them at the time.
If this is true then why did these women not go to the police at the time?
If this is true then why did the press not take their evidence to the police?
I have no idea whatsoever as to whether these allegations are true or not but this is another case of the press creating the news rather than reporting it.

Did it not cross your mind David that these women didn't go to the police for fear of not being believed or taken seriously, especially when you look historically to the likes of Saville, Harris etc, just like Brand these were A list celebrities and were proved to be above the law at the time.david63 wrote: 17 Sep 2023, 10:14Here we go again - trial by media.

Not only that these are traumatic events and lots of victims just want to understandably forget it given the fact that most perpetrators get away with it.
Brand is a vulgar individual and has a long established track record of inappropriate sexual comments on both radio and TV.
Dispatches is a highly regarded investigative programme and by all accounts it looks as though they've brought this to the TV following a lengthy and thorough investigation, I certainly hope these women now have the courage to now go to the police and this is fully investigated.

I’m inclined to agree with you Slapstick….it has been reported, and substantiated that one of the ladies in question attended a rape crisis centre on the same day of the alleged attack.

Yes Onelife, not only the crisis centre it was also reported to senior executives within the TV companies but as normal it was swept under the carpet and allegedly no evidence of the reports can be found.

Re: Current Affairs 2023
Don't ask me cos I just don't like the egotistical, narcissist attention seeker. I have never forgiven him for the dreadful prank he played on Andrew Sachs which did not show the depths to which he had stooped but the depths he had already reached.
The comedian and the chat show host (Jonathan Ross) made several calls to the Fawlty Towers actor, and Brand left a voice message saying he had sex with Sachs’s granddaughter Georgina Baillie.
“I said something I didn’t have oughta, like I had sex with your granddaughter. But it was consensual and she wasn’t menstrual, it was consensual lovely sex. It was full of respect,” Brand said.
Revolting character. Should never have been seen on television again.

Gets my vote too…when he is in one of his many self-opinionated rants I would love it if someone stopped him mid-flow with a fist down his throat.

How does one prove an assault from 2003 if both parties say opposite, does it come down to, we've had a lot of people alleging you done it so it must be true.

I guess should it go to the police to investigate Ray we have to have faith in the justice system.Ray B wrote: 18 Sep 2023, 16:16How does one prove an assault from 2003 if both parties say opposite, does it come down to, we've had a lot of people alleging you done it so it must be true.
Jimmy Saville, Rolf Harris, Harvey Weinstein Epstein etc etc have all been found guilty for their heinous crimes long after they occurred.
Time will tell I suppose.

Proving it may be difficult Ray but comments such as the one Foxy highlighted must be a reminder to those who are making the accusations that he thinks he can get away with anything.Ray B wrote: 18 Sep 2023, 16:16How does one prove an assault from 2003 if both parties say opposite, does it come down to, we've had a lot of people alleging you done it so it must be true.

Indeed they have Merv. I was under the impression that should you be accused of a crime, an appearance in court would judged if you are guilty or not. How would a person be judged in a court of law when the media has seemingly already made the judgement.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 19 Sep 2023, 10:19I see YouTube have reached their verdict and cut off his income from the site.

I wonder if that is an entirely legal action?Mervyn and Trish wrote: 19 Sep 2023, 10:19I see YouTube have reached their verdict and cut off his income from the site.
Not that I have any sympathy with RB, but if they don't delete the content, can they refuse to honour paying him any fees due?

Re: Current Affairs 2023
Trial by media is now the norm, Russell Brand is well aware of that and has used them many times to his financial advantage just like he did with his YouTube channel, he can't have it both ways.Ray B wrote: 19 Sep 2023, 14:19Indeed they have Merv. As you've indicated only the judicial system can legally prove it either way, public and media opinion is just that an opinion
Me personally, long before these allegations arose I was of the opinion he was a sexual predator Dispatches have simply confirmed that.
Just my opinion and appreciate others may think differently.

Yes I agree. I've always thought him sleazy and have never forgiven him or Jonathan Ross for the appalling sick prank they played on Andrew Sachs.
